Thanks for your kind sentiments Pikeman.

Kilkennys Junior Champions Tullogher/Rosbercon beat Skehana(Galway) by 2-12 to 0-06 to qualify for the Junior AI Final,a small country place on the edge of New Ross, they have a good side with a few Inter County players from under 21,minor and intermediate in the last few Years, most notably Pat Hartley at centre back who is currently with the Kilkenny senior panel,Walter Walsh a tall forward who plundered a good few goals for Kilkennys minors in 2008 winning an AI Medal and John Barron a forward whos been knocking around various Kilkenny panels for the last decade or so.A big physical crowd who are going to burst a gut to win this in short, every soul in thier parish will be at the match. If Dripsey have fast nippy forwards and play the ball quick id fancy them,Tullogher are handy eneogh though.

Cha has mumps apparently.

He was in hospital for a couple of days as far as i know,he has 3
Weeks to recover, should be fine id say not that io know anything about mumps, would they fuck you up for a while?

Ah they’d drain your energy a bit alright. Getting them as an adult is meant to be a right cunt. Not sure how long they’d knock you back for.

Ballyhale Shamrocks look set to be without James ‘Cha’ Fitzpatrick for their semi-final meeting with Portumna in the All-Ireland club championship.

Kilkenny’s 2008 All-Ireland-winning captain was admitted to Ardkeen Hospital on Sunday suffering from mumps and is a serious doubt for the February 22 clash with the reigning club champions, Portumna.

The possibility of ‘Cha’ not being available for selection presents Ballyhale manager Maurice Aylward with a major headache.

“Cha is in hospital at the moment with the mumps - hopefully we get him back soon,” Kilkenny squad member and club-mate TJ Reid confirmed at the launch of the Ulster Bank Fitzgibbon and Sigerson Cup at Croke Park on Tuesday.

"He’ll have very little hurling in him but it’s Cha so who knows.

“Hopefully we get him back because to lose Cha ahead of the Portumna game it’s a big loss.”

The Shamrocks are aiming to overtake Offaly kingpins and Leinster rivals Birr at the top of the All-Ireland roll of honour, seeking their fifth title.

If he was hospitalised with them then he could well be fucked for a few months…Got a dose of them before(wasn’t hospitalised) and couldn’t play anything for around 6-7 weeks as I just didn’t have the energy, completely drains you…

A friend of mine was hospitalised with it last year and missed 3-4 months of the season with it and still wasn’t right when he did get back…

Dripsey have 6 former Cork players at some level, all under 28-29 as well. They are stuck in between Blarney, Ballincollig and Inniscarra. 4 years ago they broke away from Inniscarra, a huge parish with a huge tradition in Hurling. It was bitter, and it really showed to the county what County Vice-Chairman Bob Ryan (PRO from RTE over last 2 years) was really like. If anyone else knew him here i would have nominated him for COTY.

Anyway Dripsey are all speed. They do have 3 or 4 very big players. They tend to vary their games though, they put Mark O’ Sullivan in at either 11 or 14 depending on the opposition. They are tiny at midfield, but the two boys are flyers. I played midfield against them last year and it was tough going. Their two half backs are quality. Carey is one who is a flyer with great touch, has scored a few points recently as well. The other is O’ Riordan who played Minor and U-21 for Cork, brilliant in the air and can also score. His brother Duirmuid will play in half forward line and will get most scores, he was on Cork panel until the break away, funny that isn’t it!!!

They are carrying at least one corner back, and maybe a forward as well. But i suppose this is normal for Junior, even if it is All-Ireland stage.

If theyve done thier homework on Tullogher they will be sticking this Mark O Sullivan in full forward rather than centre,if hes a serious hurler Tullogher will have a problem, nobody in thier full back line will be able for him.
Take out 2 county players from any club team and they will become average. And by not mentioning Brian Phelan it leads me to think you have never seen them, as he has been immense for them. His performance against Sarsfields in Cork was unbelieveable at times.
The Munster Club champions are never “No great shakes”. It just happens there are two kinda freak club teams around at the moment in Portumna and Ballyhale. But this doesn’t mean everyone else is average.
No i have seen them play…just forgot about the Bull Phelan…nothing more nothing less…of course the Munster champions could be no great shakes…a lot of matches are played in the muck and dirt so it can even things up …Munster champs have won all-reland twice in last 10 years…which to most would suggest that in fact ‘no great shakes’ have got out of munster…You can only be judged against whats around at the time you play…its the only barometer that can be used…anything else is just speculation…
Hangblaa what I meant about Moran and Mullane is that I thought DLS were very average apart from them two…always thought Teams like Newtown,Birr and Athenry seemed to have less of a gap between their county stars and club players…

I respectfully disagree with more or less everything you say there, but, i can see where your coming from.

Well done to Dripsey on winning All-Ireland Junior hurling, 4 years after being formed.

who won between Blarney and Cappataggle?

Blarney by 3

A Cork and Kerry double at the weekend so

Aye, some achievement for Kerry considering both clubs are from same parish.

The 2 Cork teams border each other. Some win for Blarney, they were down 3 very good players. They are a great club.

Was in Croke Park Yesterday to watch Tullogher/Rosbercon and Dripsey, didnt stay for the second game.2-15 to 0-18 it finished, twas the highest standard of Junior hurling ive ever seen,an excellent game with some brilliant scores and hurling in it from both sides, after a tight first half Dripsey went in 1-07 to 0-09 ahead after a goal from Diarmuid O Riordan who was the outstanding forward on view. The goals always seemed to be coming for Dripsey and another one shortly after the restart from a tap in after Martin Roche made a point blank save for Tullogher left them with a 5 point deficit to make up,they made a brave effort at doing so and had the lead back to 2 points with ten minutes to play,Dripsey held on for the win when Tulloghers final dropped in free was cleared and they won by 3 points.A great game to watch,Dripseys best were Diarmuid O Riordan,John Carey, David o Sullivan and Mark O Sullivan, they have a very good hurling side who will go well at Cork intermediate level id imagine.Tullogher also hurled very well but werent strong eneogh in the full back line to keep out the goals and while thier forwards clipped over some great scores they had nobody who could round the man and get the goal they badly needed to win this.Best for them were goalkeeper Martin Roche who was excellent, defenders ML Grennan and Pat Hartley,John Cotteral,Liam Barron who hit some great frees and John Barron and Shane Ryan up front.

If they avoid a rainy night on a tight pitch against the couple of physical teams they should win it. They are better hurlers than everyone at Inter A, and would be a good bit better than a few of the Premier as well.

I’ll be having Portumna at 7/4 on PP. Mad odds IMO. Ballyhale are 8/15.
Anyone else think they are a bit wrong.
