Club championships

He’ll have to win the big one on the inter county stage before anybody even tries to compare him to Aidan Fogarty let alone Shefflin.

He was fabulous last year but still lost.
Let him play a few years before you crown him.

Cloonan was hitting big scores and winning Club All-Irelands too and where does he rank?

I imagine Canning will be something special but can we not just enjoy the lad without heaping ridiculous expectations on him.

This year Henry will probably break the All-Time scoring record in championship matches and will be hoping to win his 7th AI medal.
I’d still have Shefflin before Joe-just.

After he spends and hour in Ian Flynns pocket on Paddy’s day it will be Joe who… hup hup !!

We were blessed to win yesterday, and it was superior fitness that got us over the line in extratime. Cushendall are very good, some levely hurlers, and tough as nails.

Nobody will give us a prayer now, but I think we have a right chance. Holding Damien Hayes is the key and winning midfield is the way to do that. We have a chance.

(As regards the ball hopping above.

Waterford people who have won stuff include Carrickbeg’s Sean Kelly, Villierstowns John Treacy, Ferrybank’s John O’Shea. So Fook off.)
Very disappointed that Drom didn’t put up a better performance on Saturday. I had mentioned in my preview that a lot would depend on their forwards being on form and unfortunately they weren’t at the races at all. Too many slack hand passes and once they conceded the early goals they were chasing the game from the off. THe only bright spot was the performance of Jason Stokes. An immmense footballer and if he can stay injury free he should play a pivitol role for the county team this year.

Fair play to Cross, they did what they had to do. Should be a great final, and with there record in finals it’ll be hard to see them being beat.
Compare him to the older Francie though, he’s carrying too much weight for an Inter County player.
Is his sister still a looker?

Your dead right HB. Canning took most of the plauadits yesterday but it was Hayes who pulled the shamrock’s full back line all over the place. How the management failed to make a change early on is beyond me. 3 minutes into the game it was obvious that he had the measure of young Holden.

Unfortunately for Ballyhale both midfielders were well of the pace yesterday which an awful lot of work for TJ Reid to do.

Ah she’s alright. Nothing exceptional.

Stokes always winters well! He has this pudgey look about him but should be grand come championship.

Poor oul Cha looked fucked anyway-obviously not fully recovered.

And you wonder then why he gets injuried so much?
Any IC player worth his salt at all doesn’t do that anymore, no excuses.
Drom suffered from thinking their dreadful handpassing game would be enough to stop Crossmaglen. Surprised Ned English didn’t have a better game plan.

I felt sorry for Cha as well Pike, clearly wasn’t right, which was weird seeing as he had played well for his college earlier in the week.

Congrats on Yesterday, watched it in Hayes’s after the Ballyhale game,Cushendall were going in damn hard they almost made it.A couple of corrections about your claims of successful Waterford people,Sean Kelly is a Tipp man, born and bred i know his brother and hes definite they are Tipp people, you have a problem regarding John O Sheas availability for your arguement aswell,Ferrybank is still in Kilkenny, just go look at the official records, hes a Kilkenny man,Slievrue to be precise. That just leaves John Treacy and a whole County full of nobodys i suppose…

That DLS no 12 was a lucky man to stay on the field yesterday I thought. Put himself about a lot.
Fantastic game between Ballyhale and Portumna alright. Ballyhale were playing TJ Reid back to sweep up in front of Joe Canning but it didn’t work at all. Down the other end, Ollie cleaned up as he had acres of space in their two man full forward line. Too often, Shamrocks sent ball into the full forward line but there was no one there to claim it.

Portumna’s gameplan seemed to be to choke a player of possession and it was all to often a sight seeing 4 or 5 Portumna lads around a Shamrocks player.

Joe Canning was class again, and I nearly creamed myself when he hand flicked the ball to a player as it bounced just in front of him. For the whole game he was laying off perfect balls to players in space. The lad’s a genius at such a young age.

Some of Portumna’s goals were lucky it has to be said and Connolly in the goal made a couple of mistakes- along with a couple of fine saves.

The other game wasn’t quite as good but I was impressed with Cushendall-all strong, handy hurlers and were unlucky not to win it. DLS will be handed their arses by Portumna in what I fear could be another one sided final.

Saw both the football games and was very impressed by Kilmacud-and I thought I’d never say it but Vaughan was excellent. As was Morrissey of course-set up a lot of play and carried a huge amount of ball.

Drom were terrible and completely collapsed on the day and you can’t do that to one of the greatest football clubs in Ireland. Should be an intriguing final.
I was at the game Yesterday, there was no tactic from Ballyhale to have TJ Ried hurling in the half back line,as far as i could see he dropped back there himself recognising that they were being destroyed,he shored up things in fairness and held out the tide in the last 12 minutes or so of the 1st half.Ballyhale were woeful on the line,Portumna had 5 goals on the board before Padraig Holden was moved off Damien Hayes,Cha Fitz should have been taken out of midfield after 10 minutes,TJ Ried hurled well there when they eventually made the move with 20 minutes left.Joe Canning is a class act, great to watch.DLS will be about 6/1 on Paddys day if anyone wants to have a go.

fook off Link. I have met Sean plenty of times, i know the house he was born and bred and it is well inside the Waterford border. John O’Sheas home place is about 300 yards inside the border (anything below the pitch and putt club is Dise), and John nails his colours firmly to the Dise mast.

Your signature is class. Thats hilarious from Mullane, fair play.

He certainly didnt do anything to warrant the line, but he does put it about, no harm in that.

I seriously doubt TJ dropped back there of his own accord-fair play to him if he did.

Couldnt agree with that, he definitely struck off the ball on more than one occasion. I thought if he’d walked he could have no complaints.

He gave a lad a punch anyway, making it look like he didn’t mean it (Granted yer man was wearing a helmet)

The Cush centre forward got sent off for cracking him across the head. However I guarantee you if yer man was wearing a helmet, nothing ever would have came of it. Now I’m not saying striking across the head is right with or without a helmet, but I’m just saying, am I the only one annoyed by this little anomaly in our game?

fcukin sick…had a nice few quid on cushendall at 9/2 to win back in january…some cut from phelan…still think Portumna will hand out a beating to De la salle on paddys day…

Yeah I was thinking the same at the time also MBB.

That’s bullshit. If Joe Canning continues to hurl the way he has been and never wins another medal he will go down as one of the greatest players in history.

He does not have to win the big one to be a great. Though I do hope he does at some stage to crown what promises to be a career for the ages.

Aidan Fogarty is a fine hurler and he can win as many All Irelands as he wants but he still wouldn’t be fit to lace Canning’s boots. Fact. To suggest otherise is typical blue blooded hurling county shit talk.

And if you can’t see the difference between Cloonan at 20 and Canning now then you either know nothing about the game or you’re blind.
