Simple fact is itâs very hard to produce elite level international players in Ireland.
Thereâs only 23 in a squad. 3 or 4 will be project players and the squad is picked from players ranging from 22 to 34/35.
Leinster have incredible private investment and get the irfu to pay for 8 or 9 more players. Itâs no surprise theyâll make up the bulk of the Irish squad at all.

You have to admit itâs fairly bad that thereâs pretty much a ten year gap between the last crop of international class players contributed by Munster (earls, pom, Murray, zebo) to now when theyâre beginning to contribute players again (really just Crowley so far, Casey coming through but will be overtaken, and Ahern an exciting prospect).

Craig Casey would have been plenty for the last 3 or 4 years if it wasnât for Gibson park being brought in from outside the system.
Tom ahern is nearly 25 and nearly missed two seasons which is why he played so little for Ireland.

Nash and Daly would have plenty of Irish caps if it wasnât for Lowe and Hansen.
Sexton made his Leinster debut in 2007. He was finally replaced in 2024.

I donât think Casey or Nash are top international players. Daly is nowhere near it. Ahern has time, it takes really really tall players longer to develop (non-scientific personal observation).

You keep referring to a 28 year old with two caps from give years ago. Not an international class player. Munster contributed earls, Murray, pom and zebo all at the same time, top class players. About a decade later Munster contributed Crowley, who I think is international class. Thatâs a very big gap.
