Cork GAA 2014

People say that Cork now have a very inexperienced team in the football but do we?We have a good core of experienced players in their mid 20’s who are all ireland winners.Guys like Cads, Shieldsy, Ray Carey, Aidan Walsh, Paddy Kelly (please god he will be fully fit), Daniel Goulding, Colm O’Neill (same as Paddy Kelly), Paul Kerrigan and Fintan Gould (it’s now or never for Fintan next year).I also think that there could be another year or two in Donnacha O’Connor. That’s 10 all ireland winners right there not to mention the fact that the two Thomas Clancys (the clon version in particular) James Loughrey, and especially Brian Hurley showed up very well in their first year as championship players. Were well capable of winning all four of our home league games against Tyrone,Kildare,Derry and Westmeath and i think we can take points from the Kerry and Dublin games.

Only 6 subs? Cork are fucked.

I don’t know much about Ryan Price, Alan Sheehan, Colin Lyons and Sean Murphy.I have to say Cubby is off to a great start with me anyway bringing Noel Galvin back into the panel.I hope he get’s a fair crack at it and im a man with no affiliations with Ballincollig btw.So it’s nothing to do with club bias!If Colm O’Driscoll is the fella im thinking of then himself and Butcher could emerge as serious half forward options for us.I hope Fintan Gould can nail down one of the midfield slots and that’s a very experienced full forward line.I think giving John Hayes another chance is a great move. All in all i expect us to be in the last 4 come August and sure we’ll see what happens then. There’s no truly outstanding team out there the achievements of Dublin notwithstanding.

Were you up around catherine street today dirtball

Andrew O Sullivan is not up to Croke Park in August, I doubt Galvin is either.

I’d like to see Michael O Laoire get a good shot.

I think the Clare game in munster and the Kilkenny game where the two standout games where we produced dominant 70 minute performances.Even in the second half against Dublin while the performance levels dipped for a bit we still created a lot of scoring chances in that second half.In the all ireland finals we played some great stuff in the last 15 minutes of the drawn final and in the replay we dominated the game from about the 20th minute (after Clares third goal) up until the 60th minute. Then we conceded another sloppy goal and that was that. But the team team showed against Clare in those finals that even though they can fade out of games they can still produce devastating periods of hurling where they can really hurt teams. The drawn all ireland final was the ultimate proof of that.

For a group of players that didn’t achieve much underage success last years experience will really stand to them going forward into the next few years.I just don’t understand this talk about Cork falling back into the pack. This teams still has a lot of scope for improvement and i think they will be very eager to make a statement this year that last year wasn’t a fluke. That Cork really are back at hurlings top table.Talk about Cork slipping back is silly. This teams life cycle is only just starting. If we sort that half back line then my message to the hurling world is watch us go.

Charming.

Patrick O’Mahony, Cathal Naughton and Micheal Cussen gone from the Cork squad, Aidan Walsh, the two Cahalanes, Eoin Cadogan, Brian Lawton and Paul Haughney have been added. Dunno whats happening with the likes of Pa O’Callaghan, Adrian Mannix, Micheal O’Sullivan etc.

Christ @Bandage is everywhere.

Have you seen the young Cahalane play Turenne? More than one person has said he could play senior this year. That a possibility? Is he that good?

Good turnover of players there, Cork are way stronger already.

JBM isn’t shy telling people he’s best fella he’s ever coached at that age.

He’ll play him so.

Know anything about the Collins lad from Ballinhassig. I played against his brother, all the family were good hurlers but they all went off the rails in some way. He is supposed to be a real star.

And we’ll be better at the football as well.

Cunts. The hurlers may just now have the 3 or so players they needed though. Where do the cahalanes potentially fit in?

Michael in forward line, Damien corner back. Damien’s hurling would have to improve, but he is turning into a ridiculous athlete. I just hope he hasn’t developed too quick as he has had injury issues.

Depending on his leaving cert situation he should be a certainty to start. He’s built like a tank. Personally, I like to see Trevor Horgan thrown in at the deep end also. I saw him playing minor club and he looked crazy good but that’s probably wishful thinking on my part.
Collins, like his brother,is a shit hot keeper. Shane Kingston,Billy Dunne and Michael O Halloran (B’rock) are other exceptional young prospects in the county at the moment. It’s beginning to look like that Cork are finally getting it together at underage hurling.
