Depending on his leaving cert situation he should be a certainty to start. He’s built like a tank. Personally, I like to see Trevor Horgan thrown in at the deep end also. I saw him playing minor club and he looked crazy good but that’s probably wishful thinking on my part.
Collins, like his brother,is a shit hot keeper. Shane Kingston,Billy Dunne and Michael O Halloran (B’rock) are other exceptional young prospects in the county at the moment. It’s beginning to look like that Cork are finally getting it together at underage hurling.

Have you seen the young Cahalane play Turenne? More than one person has said he could play senior this year. That a possibility? Is he that good?
Good turnover of players there, Cork are way stronger already.
Saw him play a few times, looks short in pace. Otherwise looks a prospect, already physical enough for inter-county hurling. Future center-forward with a bit of luck.
Newcestown. Good footballer as well. Is huge, strong in the air and fast when he gets going but his hurling looks slow to me.
Surprised if Cahalane is the only lad from last year’'s Minors on the squad, O’Callaghan and Rickard Cahalane looked good as well. The former should definitely be there, another Hoggie in the making.

Oh those Horgans. He has two good older brothers as well I think. They were lower in stature and quick if I remember correctly though. Some club for the size of the place Newcestown is.
Would study be stopping those 2 Turenne, or maybe they don’t want too massive an overhaul either, they did nearly win the All Ireland.
Dunno what the story is. TBH I’d be surprised if O’Callaghan isn’t on there, he isn’t in secondary school any more, he is probably a couple of years off inter-county tbf, but I’d be disappointed if he wasn’t there and someone like Hartnett, for example, was.
The squad has definitely gotten better, Cussen and Naughton should have gone last year and O’Mahony seems to have been going from his Minor days. Don’t think Haughney and Lawton will ever be starters but I’d expect them to offer a lot more from the bench - the latter in particular is well suited to the inter-county game as it is played right now, and is similar in a lot of ways to Harnedy. Spillane, Lawton, Haughney, the two Cahalanes, Rob O’
Shea, Walsh and the two Cadogans will be the ‘new faces’ for pre-season/league. O’Shea in particularly has a decent chance of pushing for a starting spot come championship, along I think with Eoin Cadogan.
I don’t expect this dual player thing to work in the slightest - particularly with Damien Cahalane - but maybe they will offer something off the bench.
Ultimately, we have one problem though, and it remains the number 6 spot.

Agreed, the dual thing can only work if Cork were the best team in both codes by a good bit. You will never be able to give 100% to either.
Having said that I think Walsh is enough of a freak to buck the trend. Nobody else will come close. God knows why Cadogan thinks he can after it not working and he now hasn’t hurled or probably done more than 10 training sessions in 2 years.
I think Cork will surprise the critics this year yet again in the hurling and football although im not sure about this dual player thing!I also would have kept on Cathal Naughton.
What always amazes me is the spread of clubs in the cork ranks. I always think it is a good healthy sign of strong hurling within the county and active and open minded selection. It would also help to stop cliques developing I would imagine.
Personally, I done think Michael Cahalane should be anywhere near a Cork senior squad while Hamilton High School are involved in the Harty. This is one of the big things that is wrong with the GAA in general. Lads are looking after their own self interest instead of looking after the common good.
HHS reaching a Harty Final would be one of the best things to happen to Cork GAA.

Absolutely. Was surprised to see him there for such a fixture.
