What a call
wall played 14 last year for corks 21s and looked very poor. Lacking skill in a big way. In one horrible moment he attempted to control a ground ball which ended up in the tipp centre backs hand 20 m away. I dismissed him in my own mind after that. However it seems more plausible now that the set up was useless for cork as his form for mary I has been good. He has had an excellent fitz for mary I and gave jack browne a bit of a chasing and appears to be a bit quicker than I have him credit for. Thats a long way off kevs top notch intercounty player all the same
I assume you are talking about Wall here. Better footballer than hurler, but his athleticism might have meant he could have been an inter-county hurler.

Makes no sense to me to be giving game time to white ahead of keane. You would imagine cork will win but the seed of doubt must be there that wexford could make it tough. If it was tight towards the end there is potential for serious nerves in the cork players while wexford are under no serious pressure
[QUOTE=“Turenne, post: 919471, member: 232”]The Cork Senior Hurling team to play Wexford on Sunday at 2pm in Páirc Uí Rinn will line out as follows:

Castlehaven dont play hurling pal.
David Hanrahan (Douglas)
Eoin Cadogan (Douglas)
Tom Clancy (Clonakilty)
Noel Galvin (Ballincollig)
Tomás Clancy (Fermoy)
Michael Shields (St. Finbarr’s - Captain)
James Loughrey (Mallow)
Aidan Walsh (Kanturk)
Fintan Goold (Macroom)
John O’Rourke (Carbery Rangers)
Paul Kerrigan (Nemo Rangers)
Mark Collins (Castlehaven)
Daniel Goulding (Éire Og)
Brian Hurley (Castlehaven)
John Hayes (Carbery Rangers)
Brian Cuthbert has made eight changes in personnel and a number of positional switches following the loss to Mayo on March 16th. David Hanrahan, last year’s U21 goalkeeper, makes his senior début, while Noel Galvin replaces Kevin Crowley at corner back. Eoin Cadogan moves to the other corner, with Tom Clancy filling the full back berth. Tomás Clancy moves back to wing back in place of Conor Dorman, while James Loughrey returns to the side, replacing Alan Cronin on the other wing, and Michael Shields moves to centre back. Fintan Goold is preferred to Andrew O’Sullivan at mid-field, and John O’Rourke, who scored a vital goal in his substitute appearance against Mayo, replaces Colm O’Driscoll. Mark Collins comes in at wing forward, and John Hayes starts ahead of Donncha O’Connor.
Almost our championship team.
I doubt it, I see 3-4 possible changes. Although having O Connor, Kelly and Goulding to come in to kill a game is a nice bench.
We lack depth at midfield though. The full back line possibly up to now as well, but I’d be hopeful by seasons end there will be 5 realistic potentials for those 3 positions.
A lot of central running and power there as opposed to play making.
But finally, after all these years we get Michael Shields at centre back. I knew at least one selector was a big fan of this idea but I suppose it had a lot to do with shoring up the full back line and finding a suitable replacement. If Tom Clancy fills that role then Cork immediately go up a few %points in terms of potential. I’m enthused by this move.
If Cutbert stays with Shields there I’d be having a look at footballer of the year betting for him.
Not sure what changes there will be bar the goalie and O’Connor. Kelly and Goulding won’t start.
So 2 changes, so not the championship team.
If Kelly gets fit he’ll start, at the end if the day he is better than Collins or Kerrigan at No.11

Which is why I said it was ‘almost’ our championship team.

- Daniel Kearney (Sarsfields)
- Paul Haughney (Midleton)

There are six changes to the team for Sunday’s quarter-final. Damien Cahalane gets a first Senior Hurling start of the season at corner back, as does Midleton’s Killian Burke in the other corner, replacing the injured Kilian Murphy and Shane O’Neill. Eoin Keane comes in at full back in place of Stephen McDonnell who has work commitments abroad. William Egan returns to the side in place of Stephen White, while Paul Haughney starts at mid-field with Pa Cronin moving to wing forward. With Stephen Moylan out injured,Jamie Coughlan comes in at corner forward, and Brian Hartnett is on the bench.
Weak enough on paper.
Seemingly Tipp will be without a few players too, not naming their team till Saturday. Has the makings of a good game.
Thought Alan Cadogan would start.
U-21 next week.

Weak?
10 of last years AI Final team. Full backline is inexperienced but other than that its as strong as you’ll get.
But I don’t think it is “almost” the team. Anything up to a 1/3 of the team could change, hardly almost

Very smart team selection. Nothing really to lose, another game would be nice but he is basically exposing 3/4 guys to a slightly higher level of hurling than they may have been exposed to before.
That back line is just not good enough. The overs points market has no value in it either so i’m not the only one that thinks it.
