Some observation:

-> Some quality hurlers there…but also a fair few that would struggle to get trails for the Clare U-21s, nevermind make their panel. We had two very poor Minor teams in 2011 and 2012, so expectations are very low.

-> Same management that was in charge of the Minors last year is in charge with this lot. They have been rewarded for taking our U-16 All-Ireland Hurling Champions and ruining them last year at Minor level.

-> Said management is tactically clueless but no doubt they’ll have the lads aggressive and fit come championship, unlike last year.

-> Notable absentees are Pa O’Callaghan (taking a year out), Micheal Cahalane (illness) and Darren Sweetnam (playing rugby). All three would make a huge difference. Other players I would have expected to be involved are Stephen Murphy (injured apparently), Kieran Histon (maybe concentrating on football), Kevin Kavanagh (again maybe concentrating on football) and Eoghan Finn (dunno).

-> Patrick Collins is the Minor goalkeeper as well.

-> There are four lads on the senior panel - Cormac Murphy, Alan Cadogan, Killian Burke and Rob O’Shea.

-> Definite starters are P. Collins (goalkeeper), A. Dennehy (corner-back), C. Spillane (full-back probably), K. Burke (half-back line), C. Murphy (center-back), R. O’Shea (midfield), S. O’Keeffe (half-forward), M. Sugrue (half-forward), A. Cadogan (full-forward line) and K. O’Keeffe (corner-forward).

-> Solid enough team but way off the likes of Clare, Waterford and Dublin at this grade.

8-9 lads on the panel that I don’t see a reason for being there. Should be U-25 really, no point having lads in their late 20s that have been around forever.

Waterford intermediate panel:

Killian Fitz, Mark Wyse, Jason Roche, Pa Walsh and Tommy Connor
Barry O’ Sullivan, Stephen Power
Stephen Roche, Shane Forristal, Colm Burke
Cormac Heffernan, Mark O’Brien
Adam Farrell, Micheal Harney, Tom Devine, DJ Foran
Kieran Power, Gavin Crotty, Ryan Donnelly, Seamus Keating, Thomas Ryan
Seanie Barry, Conor Murray, Jack Lyons, Shane Roche.

Would have though Foran was on the senior panel. Donnelly was tearing it up for the seniors at the start of the year. Thomas Ryan is that fast spindly little corner-forward that played for their seniors for years, would be dangerous at this level.

Depends on the year I think. That team has a fair few all Ireland winners going by memory.

Generally I think in a county the size of Cork it should be used to give players a chance to represent their county based on club performances. It might suit smaller counties to have it a a more developmental side, but I think Cork make a good fist of it.

The county board are some tools. They should have let the scheduled round of games go ahead this weekend. Fucking everything up for the clubs. Still they left ballymartle and cloyne play even though they have cork players. The rest of the games should defo been played also.

This is why all championship games except finals need to be finishe on the day. Extra time, golden goal and then peno’s if needed.

If the old farts want to keep the GAA Amatuer and keep the connect between county and club they HAVE to change. Otherwise it will just move further and further away from each other and the county players will stop playing in early rounds

Cork has been improving everything including leagues and structures and has led the way in having club games played between county matches, this is a big step back.

It’s ibvious too it’s at the behest of the management when Ballymartyle (2subs) an Cloyne (get some gametime into Paudie) are told to play.
Basically 2 club teams get to play cos a lad broke his leg last year while everyone else has to wait.

How short was the notice? The whole fucking Cork team need games.

There was a huge break in between inter-county league and championship, should have played at least one round then.

Football took priority.

We have a ridiculous amount of dual players.

CB suiting themselves just cause they want Paudie to get some game time, 2 subs on the Youghal / Newtown as well, no reason why that didn’t go ahead also.

Midleton into the final of the Feile, after hammering Sixmilebridge.

Rockies hammered Na Piarsigh in the club championship.

Castlemartyr 2-15 Sars 1-12 FT. JAHC
