Cork GAA 2014

Donal Og has a pop at Brian Cuthbert in this interesting article.

That’s the first point to be made about football and hurling. Management has to have the ability to think. I’m only half joking when I say, in football especially, a manager should have just one year in charge of a county team. The previous year he shall be the manager elect and he shall be locked away on a remote island somewhere, an island with no contact to media (Armagh maybe). That way he won’t be able to spend his first winter in the job slavishly copying the style and tactics of the previous year’s All-Ireland winning team, regardless of the sort of players he has to do the job. Give him just the one year in charge then and he might, out of vanity, want to make his mark and win the whole thing rather than securing his post for the following year by playing a double sweeper system and cutting down on the margin of eventual defeat.

Denis Walsh must have hated Cusack

Rockies gone, Bally after beating them by a couple of points.

Than a good few backs?
Who? SON & McDonnell have been superb, Ellis is one more good game away from an All-Star, Joyce has been more consistent than ever.

Cadogan has not hurled to a high level in 6-7 years. His last year 21 and his first 1-2 Senior were his best by a mile.

Everything has gone down hill since his trip to Oz a couple of years ago, for whatever reason.

Congratulations to our intermediate hurlers who bought home our 123 all ireland across all grades and codes of the gaa today.:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap: Im delighted for Youghals Richie Cunningham our goalie in particular.:clap::clap::clap::clap:Every single corner of our great county was represented on that team.:clap::clap: Oh and well done to Ciaran Sheehan as well for ripping it up with Carlton earlier.:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

Seriously? Yee count that as an All Ireland? Wexford had to win 1 game to get to the All Ireland final. A farce of a competition.

Cork played 5 games.Intermediate all irelands mightn’t be that important in the grand scheme of things but it’s nice for the players themselves and it’s a good competition to develop possible senior players.

They’d count tiddlywinks those cunts

Cobh into an East Cork Junior A hurling final!

Congrats Mickee you despicable Isreali cunt.

Note worthy in the sense that it’s your 2nd team been allowed senior club players. This Cork team is about the 4th or 5th team.

Not really. The actual squad is…

The Cork Intermediate Hurling team to play Wexford in the All-Ireland Final tomorrow at 3pm in Nowlan Park will line out as follows:

  1. Richie Cunningham (Youghal)
  2. John O’Callaghan (Inniscarra - Captain)
    3. Alan Dennehy (Charleville)
  3. Brian O’Sullivan (Fermoy)
    5. Colm Barry (Castlelyons)
  4. Tadhg Healy (Buttevant)
  5. Michael Walsh (Kildorrery
  6. Nicky Kelly (Mayfield)
  7. John Cronin (Lisgoold)
    10. Colm Spillane (Castlelyons)
  8. Peter O’Brien (Kildorrery)
  9. Michael O’Sullivan (Tracton)
  10. Colm Casey (Inniscarra)
  11. David Drake (Carrigaline)
    15. Anthony Spillane (Castlelyons)

Subs

16. James Mc Sweeney (Bandon)
17. John Grace (Youghal)
18. Tomás Lawrence (Brian Dillons)
19. John Sheehan (Argideen Rangers)
20. Paudie Butler (Argideen Rangers)
21. Mark Sugrue (Bandon)
22. Ronan Crowley (Bandon)
23. Barry Lawton (Castlemartyr)
24. Adrian Mannix (Kilworth)

Liam Hayes and his selectors have made just one change to the team ahead of the All-Ireland Final, with Cork U21 Anthony Spillane replacing the suspended Cormac Murphy.

The lads in bold were either involved in the senior set up before or will be involved in the coming years. That doesn’t include some lads who should have been given a chance but weren’t (Drake and Cronin for example) and lads who never lived up their underage potential for whatever reason (O’Callaghan and Kelly).

It pretty much amounts to our second team, or the majority of it.

Rumours that Dan Kearney’s little (or big?) brother William has joined the senior squad. I assume this thing about Mark Collins joining is bollocks or there would be more made of it.

Brian Hartnett also permanently gone from the squad, apparently for going to his brother’s wedding in the States. Same thing happened to a lad from my club and the Cork Intermediates, went on his honeymoon for a fortnight, not brought back on to the panel.

There are no senior club players turenne, that makes it a 3rd team at best immediately.
Plus you cannot say lads would/could/should be involved in the future when we don’t know that and is just your opinion.

However i would accept that its slightly stronger than i initially thought, for soem reason i thought we won it last year as well.

any shower that drops you for going on a honeymoon or a brother’s wedding is not worth the hassle

I don’t believe that for a second. What I do believe is that he hasn’t hurled well all year, went away and in the intern someone came in and was playing better. Some people believe it’s crazy he’s on the panel in the first place.
There is no way JBM would do it for going to his brothers wedding.

i would agree with that.
Frank Murphy would of had seamlessly had the wedding moved until after the championship if needed thru his contacts via Bishop Buckley

There aren’t many senior club hurlers that are better prospects. I’m struggling to think of many lads outside of the Senior/Intermediate squads that will get a go in next year’s league, a lot of our best prospects are playing outside of senior hurling, bar maybe Rickard Cahalane and Alan O’Callaghan.

thats o`tuama is it?

very harsh on him if thats the case.

off the top of my head conor twomey would surely be a player who would have benefitted from this type of squad?

How many Senior Clubs in Cork, 16?
