Frank knows.
Walsh isn’t related to an inter county hurler. I’ll be very surprised if Cork make any impression next year. They are a very ordinary side who rode their luck. An early exit is in store for them
Walsh will make you eat your words.
Walsh is barely intermediate standard
I actually think we are in a great position to push on next year.We have the best keeper in the country manning our goal in Anthony Nash.I keep saying that we need a natural full back but do we?Shane O’Neill did a great job there all year and while he had a poor day in the all ireland replay a lot of that was due to issues further out the field.Stephen McDonnell,Brian Murphy and Conor O’Sullivan are quality corner back options.I think Lorchan McLoughlin and Daniel Kearney have the makings of a great midfield partnership for us.We actually have a half forward line full of aggressive ball winners with Pa Cronin, Cian McCarthy, Seamie Harnedy and now Aidan Walsh fighting it out for places there.Stephen Moylan is also a great man to fight for ball and score although he is a great impact sub.Jamie Coughlan is another classy performer who plays with a bit of drive and aggression.I think if they get enough ball then our full forward line will tear teams to shreds.Luke O’Farrell could yet come good, Hoggie is the best forward in Ireland and it look’s like Conor Lehane will be ready to step it up next year.We will have our best playmaker Paudie O’Sullivan back next year.We also have a great 15 minute man in Cathal Naughton.I think Aidan Walsh is the missing piece in our jigsaw.
However the half back line is a problem Brian Murphy is more of a corner back.Christopher Joyce is still a bit raw and there’s still question marks over William Egan.If we sort that out and if the managements tactical ability improves then were in business.Hopefully Kieran Kingston will be a good replacement coach for Ger Cunningham but all in all im quite optimistic that we will beat Waterford in the first round and go one better next year. They say that Kilkenny and Tipp will be improved and that Dublin are looking for our blood.Bring them all on i say We Are Cork.Maybe im going overboard with the expectations but i still think Cork will continue to improve and evolve as a team in 2014.
Not sure you can ride your luck in three games against the greatest team for next decade Clare. Cork were very fit but short three players. They would have beaten Clare if tactically better set up. Clare caught them cold both finals and cork still had enough to power back.
Clare beat them in 3rd gear and the ref keeping cork in it all year. There are 4 or 5 teams better than them. They are simply not on the same level as the top teams like clare
Yet Clare needed the reff to fix the draw for them the first day!The replay was anyone game with 10 minutes to go and it took a goal in the last few seconds to finish Cork off!
Good post with cuter tactics Cork would have seen out the game the first day.The three first half goals that Cork conceded against Clare in the replay were scandalous. The fourth Clare goal could also have been avoided with better organisation.Naive tactics and a poor half back line ultimately proved to be Corks undoing in the end.Of course our players also lacked that winning habit that the Clare lads experienced at underage level.
Wouldn’t be convinced that Walsh can make it.
Based on what?
(a) I think this whole dual player thing is largely impossible, (b) he is an over-rated hurler in general, excellent some days, flaky the others and © I don’t think he is particularly well suited to hurling as it is right now.
In saying that, I expect him to be a fine option off the bench.

Agree on (a) & (b). Although in his defense it’s hard to be consistent when you only play every month or two, which is what he was doing, usually with no training. So that might be solved with a training session every week.
Disagree on ©. There is room for any type of hurler. He is very athletic, it’s gone more athletic. It wouldn’t surprise me for hurling to swing around real quick also. Teams are not just going to let the likes of Clare waltz around the place like that again.
He is a ball winner, we have been starved of them since FerghalMcCormack retired.
A Ballyhea clubman told me Walsh’s form this year in any game he saw was excellent. He actually made the point that his skillset is vastly underrated & that matched to his physical presence he would add hugely to the Cork setup. Those who believe this guy is not up to inter county hurling are either judging him on past performances or fairly out of the loop as regards club form this year.
I hope Aidan Walsh is giving a run of games at Centre Back.
Aidan Walsh is fast turning into the Andy Reid of Cork hurling.

Very important point and I can’t believe some people are forgetting this.
What part of Cork is Anna Geary from?
Would love to see a club hurler like Walsh togging out against the likes of Clare. He would be destroyed, Shane o neil style in the replay. When cork lads are on about trying to turn a footballer into a hurler. You know they are fucked
