Cork GAA 2016

His brother is with Milford funny enough. Army training is the only way to describe it. Wouldn’t be surprised if brother was similar but you never know.

Whats your thinking on Aghada? Have they a bit of youth? Not strongest Intermediate this year.

Dungourney are nowhere near physical enough yet, teams like Aghada, Dripsey, Grenagh etc would all horse them out of it.

Blackrock are a good outside bet for this.

Not aware of him ever training a team before.

Its insane that a club are paying these guys 100+ a night based on absolutely nothing.

To this regard, U21 players Stephen Cronin, Sean White, Michael Hurley, John Mullins, Kieran Histon and Kevin Flahive have been training with the panel in recent weeks, so too has Sean Powter, though last year’s Cork minor captain is unlikely to be part of the squad for Tipperary given he starts his Leaving Cert next Wednesday.

4 backs of a backline absolure derelect of actual defenders. Typical Cork talent spotting. Cronin has pedigree but his performances were woeful in u21. Mullins wouldn’t have made any of the other 3 semi finalists squad.
No harm having them around, but not that encouraging either.

What’s the reason Alan and Donnacha O’Connor and Kelly still being involved, these lads are well in their 30s now and have had limited impact in the past few years. O’Connor coming back from a serious injury like that at his age and size is very doubtful.

Surely it would be better to build the team around some of the young lads coming through. The Cork team would appear to be quite old.

I doubt Donnacha will last the year. Alan O’Connor is probably younger than you think and doesn’t have huge milage either.

Neither in fact does Kelly due to recent inactivity and he is a class act. It just remains to be seen are the injuries after flattening his wheels too much. While very skillful and intelligent, he is/was superb over the ground, running was easy. So if that was lost you would wonder.

The young players are simply not that good. Hurley and Powter are good and Kelleher is already there. White has potential. Sean O’ Donoghue had the most ability but is on Hurling squad, which is a mistake. But outside that they are not up to it. That u21 back line has players that may not play 1st team club football this year. Not sure any of them made Sigerson.

I see Carrigaline and Blackrock shifted big hammerings in the intermediate hurling last night. Bit of a joke really.

Dripsey just lost to Barrs 2nd team. Aghada’s hammering in the football might be a catalyst for them to make a push at the hurling, a few good young hurlers there. Dungourney have a big pick and a lack of size didn’t hurt Meelin.

Ya but they were playing good sides, Fr. O’Neills would compete at Premier. Generally the 2nd teams brought up are doing way better than expected. The Barrs are flying, both Intermediate teams won. Clonakikty xame from Junior B and won 4 games this year, so thats significant.

Have to force the hand of the big populations. Will lead to more participation.

Dripsey have the same team largely since inception.
Barrs have very good u21 and Kevin Murray is hugely involved there and having a serious influence.linked strongly to 2 feile final appearences and City u21 football title.

Although I largely agree with the idea of bringing these teams up, it does seem like they have added too many - Carrigaline’s 2nd team are barely junior a standard.

Ya no doubt, but only one way to make the grade. They would never do it at Junior A. They play Premier Minor most years, if they want to they could make a nice competitive team.

I’ve really been blown away with the amount of kids out on the streets with Hurley’s in Cork. I’ve been out flyering all over Blackrock the last couple of days and every kid has a hulr in their hand… if you saw 1 in a 100 in Limerick with a Hurley you’d be doing well… I’d imagine the grass roots in Cork is like no where else in the country but how the fuck it’s not transfering is crazy. From my short time down here I’m hearing that Cork haven’t ever really engaged with A & C over the last ten years while every other county has… I missed the first round of club championship but I should get to the next round. Herself’s lot are Douglas, so I’ll be jumping on board.

Good man, Douglas is a decent salt of the earth club, my club is a local rival but I’ve a good mate whose Da was involved in Douglas and spent a few great nights below in the club.
I’ll have to check with the mother if she got the flyer, what’s princesses business? Good to see you’re making efforts to put down roots.

A&C?
S&C i assume you mean?

Big reason for failure of top team. As you say, the pick is there.

Work with one of the lads on that team. You’re being generous with your comments. According to him they are totally shit. The set up this year is a farce

Yeah, s&c…what’s their problem with it?

A mushroom never needed S&C and that’s what Cork hurling is,

On my way down to the shop to get the Examiner shortly, was there a lot of fixtures at the weekend?
