It was my first final in Croke Park, I had been at the Thurles Final in 84.
Hodgins was a stylish corner back from the barrs.
I was at most cork training sessions in 86 and got to know a load of the players, we used to rob a pile of sliotars and they knew it but didnât give a fuck, weâd stand behind the goal during the puck around and puck them back, if they went into the terrace there was a good chance they were never getting them back, Frank used to dump cummins sports bags full of brand new sliotars onto the turf, weâd often end the night trying to puck them across the atlantic pond.
Crowley got the man of the match for clearing ball all day long without a marker, big mistake from Cyril as Galway had the better hurlers, it was a great game, I had the sunday game on video and watched it loads of times in the following years.
The 2 man full forward line worked v KK in the semi, did KK in good and proper. Was it 4-10 to 0-10 for a finish? Something like that.

Who knows. He has ground down so many people over the years that any forward thinking individuals who would actively push for change wouldnt be bothered becoming their club delegate as know its a waste of time. Its not an elected position and up to him when he wants to leave so you can imagine the quality of debate and accountability that leads to.
Id say the levels of support would have a large generational divide. One of the biggest issues is so many people are anti Donal Og, his anti Frank stance would push a lot of people down the track of supporting Frank IMO.
Doubt anyone actually supports Frank Murphy. But he is entrenched and the groupthink so strong it doesnât matter.
Yes, the entire CB and many delegates. He is a supremely manipulative person and many of these guys are happy to be near the squad or on the field on match day.
Oh i can tell you they do. I have had people wax lyrical about him, ver passionately defending him.
