Cork GAA 2016

Could be classic case of mixing up manager and coach if so.

Rockies, Glen and Bride Rovers.

Rockies are a dark horse this year.

Have they added some hurlers or something? Stephen Murphy is the only semi-decent player they have.

No but how good individually were the Glen or Sars? Not particularly.

Overall they are showing some form year on year. They probably need to get to a Final first.

did they win a few 21s over last few years?

5 in a row minors i think. Although that may have been 16’s.
Only the 3 u21’s in 5 years.

No chance at all they are coming.:joy::joy::joy:

The Cork Senior Championship is around Intermediate standard of the 90’s. It takes effort no doubt, but not a huge amount of ability.

The Glen have Callinan, Hoggie, MacDonnell and Moylan. Sars have Cian Mac, Conor Sul, the Kearneys, Eoin Quigley and Cussen, who full-backs in Cork usually struggle to deal with. Blackrock have Murphy and maybe at a stretch Kevin O’Keeffe, in terms of comparable hurlers. Glen and Sars have a lot more quality, so do Midleton and Imokilly and arguably a couple of others.

Teams made up almost entirely of big physical lads that are 6 foot plus with little skill and less pace. And they lost a couple of their more talented hurlers, like David King. Great club in general for losing young hurlers.

Sum of the parts …

You are showing a real lack of common sense/game knowledge here. Winning and confidence are huge advantages. Add hunger to win a Senior and the fact that the hunger has been satisfied for most of the opposition.

Sars are run by Teddy Mac. The Glen lost their coach from last year. Midleton should be the best team but are the classic townie team.

And not to mention i just said they are a dark horse, nothing more.

No doubting that. But they still have a collection of hurlers. 30+ who have several county medals.

Changing the goalposts I see. You asked about Sars/Glen individually, now you are fucking on about the sum of the parts.

They are inferior to both Sars/Glen collectively and individually and you can say the same for a number of teams left in championship. They are basically the equivalent of the Cork hurlers, a load of nice mediocre hurlers short on pace, quality and guile. They’ll win sweet fuck all.

Cork All-Ireland winners Ó hAilpín and Kenny take first step into hurling management.

Whatever about Tom Kenny it’s not Sean Ogs first foray. He’s in charge of Na Piarsaigh this year (football and hurling I think)

Kenny is a mentor for the COrk U-14 hurlers as well. Shite reporting but whatever.

Could be a good manager down the road. Not coach though i would imagine.

Hard to know with Sean Og, and hard to know where NaP went this year. Had tough enough draws and are quite young. Word is players enjoyed the year generally.

I see our U-14s managed to draw with Kerry.

Got to all 7 finals this weekend, won four including the U-14A and U-16A.

Cork have completely dominated these competitions for the last 3 years. The u14 were exceptional today. It’s only a matter of time.

Can we dare dream of minor success in the next few years?
