Cork GAA - They're going home! - sponsored by Sports Direct and Super Valu

Absolutely. Rock solid spine with talent sprinkled around it. They didn’t get enough credit at the time and probably still don’t, except from us saddos reminiscing :sob:

There was some amount of very decent hurlers who could not get next no near that starting 15.

For whatever reason that cork team and Armagh 02 are remembered much more than many more successful teams.

They were awesome. Tom Kenny and the two O’Connors would run you into the ground. Joe Deane who scored a point by dropping the ball an inch over the bar.

Agreed. To come out again, with all the expectations, distractions, everyone shooting at you, and to go again takes some doing. Cork nearly won three in a row too

That Cork team were very overrated, a crowd of pensioners from Clare had them bate easy in the 2005 semi only they ran out of steam

Back to back has to be respected.

It is the pinnacle, only surpassed by three in a row :stuck_out_tongue:.

That Cork team rightly deployed the Newtown style which suited the O’Connors and Tom Kenny down to the ground along with Donal Og who revolutionised the puckouts.

The problem was the troubles off the field and the fact Cork club and county teams have spent the last 15 years deploying different varieties of the running, hand passing and backwards possession based hurling.

My own club has played teams from all counties and when you go to Cork your guaranteed the same prototype. It’s no wonder Cork clubs get their arse handed to them in the Munster club.

Cork champs this year will be the worst in Munster by a considerable distance. Miles off the pace.

Has there been any reconciliation between the O’Connor’s and Newtown?

What did they fall out over ?

They’ll still probably beat whatever comes put of Limerick and ye’ll all be looking for big screens again

Their father was sacked as manager some time in early 2013 and the twins retired with immediate effect.

This is exactly what I’m saying.

Donal O’Grady has a hell of a lot to answer for

DOG was correct in playing that style though.

He couldn’t really control what happened thereafter

I suppose.

He most certainly is a proponent of the type of shite Cork were playing this year though. His media analysis prior to going back in with the Cork Seniors will tell you that

Someone on PROC going to get the forum in legal trouble with the Glen.

What happened?

They’d have better off winning no all irelands under him.
