Cork GAA - They're going home! - sponsored by Sports Direct and Super Valu

They had that cork full back line destroyed and then changed their game and brought TJ out the field.

There’s no talking to you Cork lads.

Two badly coached teams, with the winner just a bit better on the day.

Of course these fuckers put the final on in the evening time - who dafuq puts a final on on a Saturday evening?

Great for saucing

Hamilton High School 0-9 ColĂĄiste Choilm 0-2

Following a game that near rose above the realms of mediocrity Hamilton High School, Bandon, emerged facile seven-point trap-to-line winners over ColĂĄiste Choilm, Ballincollig, in this opening round Corn UĂ MhuirĂ joust at Newcestown.

A measure of the winner’s dominance can be gleaned from the fact that the losers failed to raise a flag until the 46th minute Darragh O’Mahony, who impressed in a losing cause, pointed a free.

In the interim, the Bandon boys were in cruise control around the middle third where Conor Ustianowski and Jacob O’Driscoll held sway, supplying good quality ball to an impressive half-forward division of Olan Corcoran, Niall Kelly and Adam Casey.

But for the bravery of Coláiste Choilm’s keeper Jack Forde who made two stunning reflex saves to thwart Ustianowski and Kelly in rapid succession at the close of the opening quarter, the city boys would have been further in arrears. Points by Ciarán McCarthy (free) and Adam Casey were all the winners could muster to this juncture.

However, despite the best efforts of Nathan Davis, Conor Dodd, Cian O’Driscoll, Pete Kelly and Darragh O’Mahony, Hamilton continued to call the shots and by the interval held a commanding 0-7 to no score advantage.

The Ballincollig side upped the ante on the resumption and while winning greater possession failed to translate it into scores, a point by O’Mahony in the dying seconds being their only score from play.

Meanwhile, Hamilton tacked on two further points by Casey and Kelly to romp past the winning post with furlongs to spare.

Scorers for Hamilton High School: N Kelly (0-3, 2f); A Casey, C McCarthy (1f) (0-2 each); C Ustianowski, O Corcoran (0-1 each).

Tradition.

How did Tomas O’ Se get on managing the Intermediate A club this year in Cork? Can’t remember which town he was over but he’d coached them to a minor title a couple of years ago? Be interested to see how he got on.

Glanmire

Only a point in it at half-time but comfortable enough in the end for CBC.

Cbs are very young. Serious team next year. Cbc are very strong.

Leahy was good in the 1st half but faded out of it and Midleton were pretty toothless otherwise. Cremin and Kirby looked lively throughout for CBC. Downey looks a good prospect. O’Leary is talented but could always be doing more. CBC always seem to have that bit of doggedness and physicality about them. Maybe they’ve sampled a bit of rugger on the way up or Tony Wall coaching a bit of Norrie into them. Midleton full of nice lads.

Or maybe they are physically more developed as most of the team is in 6th year whereas Midleton are backboned by 5th years.

Well beaten in the end.

‘A six point hammering’ I was told.

Yeah it sounds like there was a pretty sizeable gap. Doesn’t sound like Midleton have the depth of CBC and obvious age/experience difference. Some of those CBC lads must be in their third year at Harty level.

Is there any truck given to winning an All Ireland schools title for schools in Munster or is it all about the Harty Cup? School teams in KK see winning the Leinster title as a means to an end to winning an AI title.

It’s all about the Harty.
