Your point? ASR pull in players from a load of clubs, far more than the likes of A.G., Roco etc.
No fall out. Just a quite slip away and a handy excuse.
You can’t do both. CutBert found that out the hard way
i saw caimins playing rochestown this year in the harty. I am pretty sure there were 7 clubs on the rochestown panel. it is highly unlikely there would have been players on the caimins team from any more than 4 clubs. sixmilebridge shannon newmarket and cratloe.
of those clubs cratloe has a small population. newmarket is a normal country parish and shannon has any and every challenge that cork city clubs would have so only sixmilebridge would have the population and the tradition of hurling to be classed in the way you describe.
Unfortunately your memory has failed you, Rochestown had four clubs represented against Caimins, and one of those four representatives was a solitary lad from Cobh.

So basically they have Douglas/Blackrock/Carrigaline, and as I already stated lads from these clubs go to 3-4 different schools. Just underlines my point about how scattered the Cork city hurling talent is and how small the talent pool available is for the city schools. Incredible achievement that Roco got anywhere near a Harty final last year.
Moves being made to get hurling academy/development in Coloiste Spriod NaomH, Bishopstown.
The Barrs, Bishopstown, Ballinhassig and Ballinora would provide the majority of players. Plenty potential to grow a Harty school there.little or no internal interest but clubs are driving it.
Cleary, English, Ephie Fitzgerald and Ronan McCarthy the four names put forward for interview for the football job.
English? Ffs the man is deliousional
I would make roan mac favourite. Simply based on the selection panel. Cleary doesn’t really have any experience with the people there and there is an issue with Frank. No west cork reps on it either which is bizarre considering the football demographic of cork
What is key requirement for the role - seems they are not too far away if they get right man in
Managing a team of High Performance minded coaching team and creating a strong player led leadership group that can take control and responsibility for on-field matters.
Its a manager they need. I have personal experience of Ronan Mac and he ticks a lot of boxes. Nice man with a bit of edge and IC experience and understanding. Very practical coach and also a mind for making the most out of what you got and developing and coaching players and building a team best suited to their talents. However he may be too peaceful and may just keep the peace with people who wouldn’t have the patience or time for the likes of Luke Connolly and Dan McEoin. I think Cleary has that. And that’s not to say Ronan Mac isn’t his own man, he very much is, but I just wonder would he rock the boat as sufficiently as is needed. Would he be too involved in the coaching? Hard to know.
Its possible the 2 of them would be the best, however if they didn’t share similar philosophies then it wouldn’t work. I think they are the outstanding candidates. Fitzgerald is a decent candidate also but some people have reservations, I really don’t know why and it may be personal baggage or his name not being big enough, who knows.
Whats notable though is some of the better coaches are letting themselves forward, which indicates there will be better support for them.
Oh and whoever it is need to get a Sports Psychologist in as their very first appointment.
Need the right person to do that but every team should have access to somebody. Also some kind of performance coach outside the camp would be beneficial for a team.
Interviews are being treated seriously on county board side and they are genuinely trying to find best person for the job.
I would have reservations about the business management heads of selection group. Great guys but a (dare I say it) sheedy or pat gilroy or the likes would be of huge benefit on that. Who is looking at it analytically? Who is involved in real high performance in the last 3-4 years? Nick Murphy would have been exposed to it with CC and Aidan O Connell et al so that’s something.
No point in looking for high performance people if you are not going to know what it looks like. Presentations etc would be a far better set up. Interviews are a farce
Paddy Power now has Mulcahy as favourites. What’s the story
So far Kingston has not made himself available.
Very few contenders for the job.
I can’t wait to see the horror on Mulcahy’s face in early March on the sidelines, looking sheepishly up at rain clouds. Then when the precipitation comes, the little children screaming in horror as the fake tan runs from his greasy head & face.
Please let it be so.
They will be well conditioned under Mul. Post shampoo.
Please let Tomas Mulcahy get it.
players from tracton and bally somewhere on the squad as well. it hardly matters how many from ech place is on the team in a given year so much as the fact that players from those clubs are in the school so they are available to play .
Are you trying to tell me lads from Ballymartle, Tracton and Cobh regularly go to Rochestown, a Cork City school?
They are anomalies, sons of teachers or the odd past pupil.
Reality is the cork city schools club representation is much lower than other schools in the Harty and they are at a disadvantage player wise in comparison to even the likes of Caimins, never mind Thurles or Asr.
