Cork GAA Thread 2015
Cian McCarthy has left Cork panel - understandable in many ways as he has a young child and is not getting much if any game time

It is one thing for lads who are 1-20 to give up so much time but must be a decision for anybody on a panel from 20 to 30 to devote so much time to it. More of a decision again for lads on panels (not getting any game time) of any county that is not a “top tier” county which us unlikely to be in the mix to win a cup.
Plus he’s going back to a club that’s very well set up, has good coaching and is highly competitive. It’s an easy enough decision I’d say considering his lack of game time.
So completely irrelevant to the discussion. Typical victim mentality.

I’ll be back to you on request.
Any update?

I can be bothered/don’t have the time to appease some narrow minded twaat on the Internet to validate my experience and education.

If you really have an interest in finding out more you’ll do it yourself.

Chickens home to roost ?@TheUlteriorMotive
Hamstring injuries were becoming a thing of the past, but back with a bang now.

They’ll still beat Wexford handy enough

Not much cover in back line without Ellis and Joyce.

Are they a thing of the past, Costa did his for Chelsea yesterday, O’Brien did one in rugby. I think quick succession of games plays a toll but you would expect Cork to look at this now if you get 3 in a game and adjust things.

Positives are they seem to have worked a system to use Horgan - 2-8 yesterday is good scoring

Conor McGrath and Colm Galvin both picked up hamstring injuries yesterday too. Is it to do with changing ground conditions.

Jackie Tyrell as well

I would say changing ground conditions has a huge bearing on it.

No definitely Cork’s lack of a qualified S&C man apparently.

SOB didn’t “do” his hamstring, he was back the following week.

Ya they happen, of course tey do, but they are certainly rarer than I ever remember. The strengthening of Glutes and activation of running muscles before training and games has had a huge affect. Guys like Costa will always be on the edge with most lower body muscles. He is a power player, fast twitch machine, always a bigger danger with those type in pro sport in particular. However still wholly avoidable.

How good is Kingston @Turenne - is he as good as people say?

Conor Cahalane (St Finbarrs )

Son of Niall, younger brother of Damien??

Afaik he is the younger bro. He also plays football for Haven, and is on the Minor football squad.

I’ve only seen him play twice, strong, fast and aggressive, just like Harnedy in many ways. Dual player as well, was our best forward last year with the Minor hurlers so should do some serious damage this year.

That pretty much seals it!

Jeremy Saich?

No it doesn’t. It can have a bearing, but far less than many other factors.
