Cork GAA Thread 2015

I haven’t heard anything @Turenne yet but I’ll be talking to a Killeagh club man in the next day or two so I’ll pass on his thoughts.

Seriously?

Yeah Cork often name the underage squads this time of the year.

Who the fuck wants to know? Someone that interested will go to the Rebel Og website.

Or they could save themselves some trouble and click the link I posted.

You bored today mate?

Someone told me tonight, and this is someone involved with the county, that POC is the best hurle in Cork bar none. Better than Horgan etc.

More trouble in the hurling camp. @TheUlteriorMotive - I seriously hope your involvement in not on the sports psychology side of things. If it is you should choose another career.
Another seriously injury, another major joint injury. Jokeshop.
Things are very bad.

Lorcan McLoughlin is the player btw, dislocated shoulder.

This was reported in today’s Papers. Did he get injured training with Cork or his club?

Huge loss , very good player , consistent and Cork don’t have many of them

Club last night.

If it happened with the club you can hardly blame management?

Are you that ignorant?
Who does he train with?
Dislocation of the shoulder is usually down to a heavy landing or hit, but it has to be something massive if you have built up the muscles around it supporting it.
Of course it’s down to the players himself as well and I believe this is a re-injury. However I do know the hurlers strength training leaves a lot to be desired. Allowances for previous injuries would be a given, normally. They stopped strength training at one point because they were upping the running. Now I don’t expect everyone to get this, but that’s not advisable, to say the least. If it happened to me, as an S&C coach, I wouldn’t sleep for a week with guilt.

The dressing room has been well and truly lost

Nobody knows without seeing him at inter county level if he would cut it. Saying he is best is hyperbole without inter county context to judge. Looks like he could be very good although he probably lacks a bit of pace. He was approached to join up at start of year but no interest. Lots of speculation why but some lads don’t fancy it for their own reasons.

Not me no. Ultimately manager has to manage and players cannot demand to play or you end up with a panel of 15.

lorcan Mcloughlin shoulder dislocation - injuries happen in contact sport, in all sport. Maurice Shanahan dislocated his kneecap. Mahony broke his leg. fives struggling with injuries If you are in Waterford camp…

Hopefully see Harnedy full forward on Coughlan the next day.

Ya they do. Mahoneys would fall into the unlucky catogory which is rate IMO.
Corks record since x-mass is appalling. There is no excuse for it.
It seems there is a manager within the playing group now.

I am going to guess at an agenda. Same agenda who said Cunningham would destroy Dublin and who ignore Cunningham at helm when tactics v Clare were exposed.

As for shoulder dislocation Cillian O’Connor did his shoulder twice in 2013. Donaghy did his in 2014. Maher from Tipp did his this year.

Ya unhappy training has gone to shit and there are no tactics of note. Lack of gear, sliothars, 7 lads making decisions at half time etc. trouble with Frank again. It can’t be cusack a fault this time.

Cunningham was dropped in it big time. A joke what happened.

Aaah Turenne - still peddling information from forum to forum with same degree of accuracy
David King affiliated to Cobh Ramblers or some similar soccer club for last 12 months or more
Daniel Meaney Alan O Callaghan MartinO Farrell all sitting Leaving Cert in next few weeks
Eoin and David O Farrell both currently injured
Bit of a mullocker yourself it seems

What do you think happened to Cunningham? There probably are too many voices on the side-line for Cork during matches and this seems to cause an inability to react tactically during games - was same when Cunningham was there too. Can be hard to change things though as it means admitting the initial tactics were wrong. Happened against Tipp last year too when it was clear the game plan was flawed but it was decided to give it time. Cork are probably 4 or 5 players short and arguably management have over achieved in getting to finals/semi finals and a narrow defeat a game earlier would have left things looking rosier with the momentum and trajectory upward.

Waterford have their own issues but handled differently than Clare for example because they have a manager who is clever.

Every panel has 25 to 30 lads who have always been the best growing up and therefore don’t deal with knock backs very well. They all expect to be playing and when not selected it is hard to accept. Like any high performance athlete. Part of what makes them good but means they will sulk if not managed property as most things have come easy to them due to natural talent. Once you put them in a situation where talent is equalised then attitude and personality start to be the differentiator.

Re lack of gear/sliothars but I would be very surprised if that is the case given the logistics around every county team.

Interesting viewpoint !
