Cork GAA Thread 2015

As long as he doesn’t throw his toys out of the pram when not picked. He’s a good lad though generally so would be good to see him back - probably unfairly treated in not being picked but walking away never the right message.

Not sure thats what he did. Don’t think the communication the other way was too great either.

Anyway i think there is a better communicator there now.

Badly need commitment of everyone as well as a couple of new players as well.

I have a lot of time for him. But he only comes back and Brian Murphy will be gone. They are lacking players and if Cahalane and Walsh jump then it is very bare. I don’t think Paidi O’Sullivan has recovered from leg break and is finished at inter county level. Will his brother drop him. Will that be an issue.

Main worry for KK would be he might go too far for consensus. He will need to make decisions as buck stops with him. How will he manage his son on the team in a dressing room if things get rocky. Hope he does well as he is a great guy and one of the nicest people you would meet. He’ll feel the pressure though

Ya one would get impression.

The football is farcical. They invited latees into the interview process now despite refusing Jerry Wallace an interview in the hurling because he was “technically late”.

Be interesting to see if any sports pscychologists with teams. KK would definitely be open to it. JBM wasn’t. The s and c supposed to be joined up across teams. Few grumblings from players already too. There are a few to cull but will probably wait a while

What do you mean joined up?
As in centrally done? Thru Mardyke i assume?

They both need psychologists. And they should be using these ar development level as well so that simple mental preperatkon is 2nd nature.

So all of them are training?

Huh?

Not sure. Lot of people are already annoyed Including some journos.

Any links?

Not sure any budget agreed. Teething problems. Communication issues. Some journos feel snubbed. All small stuff but you need to start properly and decisively. I also think they should have given a three year term. Optically important to show confidence.

Normally you arr right. However on the ground nobody has faith in anyone so it will have to be earned anyway.

I was asking about the S&C though. Is that being centralized?

Fuck the journos. A little bit precious are they not.

I have a theory frank has delayed football delibrately to make sure walsh & cahalane play hurling.

S and C not totally clear. They have discussed centralising it so there is joined up thinking across more than one team but no real clarity on how that would operate and who takes control of sessions and how it would evolve across the year. I think the stats guy who went to limerick is also back in the fold

not sure about frank - football seems a mess at the minute but that may be as much difficult personalities going for interviews and refusing second interviews as any conspiracy

But he knows what he is doing. He knows the personalities. Its all about getting someone in he can control so he will put road blocks in front of guys who won’t toe the line.

It was just a thought really and would not be a surprise.

You cannot integrate S&C for 2 different teams though. Thats bananas. S&C has to be an integral part of the on-field conditioning and game plans. Managers will want their own S&C too.
Mental carry on.

Unless they are just on about a venue?

Agreed re s and c and that is issue which was immediately raised by some people in the camp but initial suggestion was also from somebody in the camp. They will figure it out but Cork seems to be a place for “strong personalities”

Your strength is often your weakness.

Being from Cork also, i epitomise this.

You can be sure its a backhanded deal being struck like the last one they did for the hurlers.

I thought Wayne Sherlock was going to be a selector?

Late switch with Pat Ryan.

I’d say sars losing was key

In fairness, the selection commitee looks good. One would imagine standards would be high enough from those lads.

Peader Healy, from Naomh Aban, named the football manager.

Should be enough to keep the dual players with the hurlers!

Thoughts @caoimhaoin?
