Coronavirus - Here come the variants

I used to love doing tricks on my BMX and robbing apples from the nuns orchard. Eating as much sugary stuff I could get hold of.
Later on I enjoyed smoking loads of hash and playing video games, Iā€™ve put away those things now that Iā€™m a grown up

@the_man_himself reckons you should take these things back up as they are just passing time like going for a run or watching a match.

Thereā€™s no wrong way to teach a small child maths or reading

Really? Iā€™d assumed differently but you would know much more about it

Whatā€™s that line about putting away childish things, from a poem maybe?

Its St Paul bro

Itā€™s not at all. She put an awful lot of effort into planning and recording lessons for the children and setting what they should read etc. They were then to upload their work and she marked it. She worked an awful lot more hours doing this than normally. The kids whose parents did the lessons with them improved. The ones who didnā€™t went backwards. Some few parents were unable to do the lessons with them for genuine reasons, others didnā€™t bother their holes. There was a third group as well interfering too much, doing the lessons for the children, or trying to do extra work or teach them yourself as you said, all counterproductive.

The very man.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

I think I found a number of wrong ways during the last couple of months.

Ah look ā€¦ weā€™re being harsh here. Itā€™s been a tough year and we need to be kind to each other. If @Batigol and @Copper_pipe pass some of lockdown playing computers good luck to them. Theyā€™re both great guys.

Eleven table tennis on vr is nothing short of amazing. Far more realistic than actual table tennis

Mark Paul again. This guy is absolutely bang on, Iā€™ve become a big fan of his. Great analogy.

Itā€™s even better in the context of the full verse. One of the most elequent passages on Love ever put to paper. From Corinthians

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or clanging cymbal resounding in the wind. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and can understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have faith, that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I give all I possess to the poor, and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see in a mirror, darkly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

We have commenced locking perfectly healthy people (who have all tested negative) away for a fortnight. Never felt as ashamed of my job as I am now.

At their own expense.

Really ?I always thought that was the go to made up tale that lads used to show they were once a bit edgy ā€¦must be some amount of orchards about ā€¦
Itā€™s the equivalent of the sporting tale aul lads tell in boozers that they were on minor county panel ā€¦no records to prove it but if you believe all of them , panels must have been 80 strong back then ā€¦

I robbed apples and I didnt even like apples. But I was a right divil as a youngster.

Itā€™s a token gesture. Like any Irish token gesture there are numerous ways around it.

Arenā€™t the two of ye big fans of Fantasy NFL?

Doesnā€™t @backinatracksuit own a collection of different types of runners?

Are they not as childish as video games?

Any kid who doesnā€™t rob apples wants a smack
