Think about it - you mentioned it in your comment, each cycle of a PCR âamplifiesâ the amount of viral RNA in a sample in effect it doubles the amount in the sample.
If there is no Covid RNA in the sample (and the tests are designed to specifically only look for that viral RNA, not any others) then you could increase cycles to your hearts content, youâre not going to see anything, In effect youâre multiplying 0 by 2 over and over again, you still end up with 0.
In reality, due to the maths and limit of detection stuff itâs incredibly unlikely that any PCR would âdetectâ Covid RNA at a cycle above 40. Lots of them run higher than that say to 45 or so but thatâs irrelevant as its the cycle where a threshold is met thatâs important.
Yeah that makes sense but the argument Iâve heard is that if you have to amplify it 40 times to see it then it is pointless as the amount of virus in someone if needed to be amplified 40 times to be seen would be tiny and most likely non-transmissable and this is the reason countries like Japan stopped amplifying much lower (think it might have been 15 or 20).
No, the OIUTF wanted to open it up without a vaccine. The LIDTF crew wanted to wait until there was a vaccine. Itâs important that this distinction be made.
There are some who incorrectly believe that people who were pro restrictions wanted to be locked down forever or as they so originally labelled it âlockdown 4evaâ.
