Remember the entire reason why Estaban agreed with the longest lockdown in Europe was to wait and see what happened elsewhere and to make sure we âdidnât go too quickly and end up back in lockdownâ. When people criticised the fiasco over tracing and NPHETâs aversion to strong surveillance after they were given all that time, he was back defending them.
Donât know but if theyâre under 60 theyâre at very little risk in relative terms, and most of them have taken a sweet early retirement deal by that timeâŚup here anyway
Iâll be honest with you I couldnât give a fuck about the virus. My main issue with covid is its impact on my day to day life. We are all going to die of something some day soon enough. Thereâs lads here terrified something shocking from it though. They need to accept their own mortality.
Too true. My Mrs has been on cloud 9 about it⌠Iâm nonplussed but just donât want to pass it on to anyone. Iâve seen Limerick win the all Ireland, Liverpool win the league and the Patriots win the Superbowl. Iâm ready to die.
But mate, our Lockdowns ( I hate using the word as bar last March restrictions were not anyway severe other than Pubs were closed ) have been to help reduce strain on a creaking Health Service.
Iâd fully endorse carry on as normal if a test existed where I could check my health status in the morning before me or my family potentially infect or spread infection in our daily routine.
I donât think that is a mental thought to be having and mental as a reason why a lot of people are Pro restrictions currently. Nobody wants to spread something which isnât causing them issues but potentially causes life changing issues for a more vulnerable person.
As youâve said yourself current rates are too high and a judgment call has been made.
Hopefully there is light coming into view of this cunt of a tunnel soon.
I was talking in general terms, not about Ireland in particular. I have asked many times to provide an example of who the OUITF crew think has had a successful approach and all I heard was Sweden, which was fine until they decided to do a u-turn and are going for the lockdown route too.
Every country seems to be going for the restrictive lockdown, many of those that donât are seeing higher numbers of hopsitalisations and fatalities. Yes lockdowns are shit but what is the alternative and in Irelandâs case how likely is it to be successful given all the advantages we fucked away when this thing started.
I donât think previous Restrictions caused complacency, I would say the news of a Vaccine breakdown made people down tools in a celebratory manner to be honest.
You see, you refuse to acknowledge that infection/hospital admission rates are the core problem, not mortality rates. This error is the macro OIUTF error.
Yeah I agree with you 100% about Sweden. I wouldnât advocate anything like that. I generally donât like to talk about Sweden or New Zealand as they are both extremes and polar opposites and neither are practical approaches from where we sit at this moment in time.
