Coronavirus - the deadly virus that no one dies from

The surest way to protect them is to have a low incidence of virus in the population.

It’s not a case if you have no symptoms for any other disease.

It’s an infection.

We’re in this mess because case fatality of flu was mixed up with infected fatality of Covid. If you compare the same thing then Covid has an infection fatality rate of 0.1 per cent. Same as flu. Not 1%.

HSE testing in Meat Processing Plants halted due to capacity issues despite these same plants causing the lockdown in Leix and Kildare. Eggy Donnelly spent the intervening period arguing with people about parents watching their kids play sport, food receipts and trampolines. Simon Harris has spent it pretending he is still Minister for Health and Leo has spent it pretending he is not in government at all. Cunts the lot of them.

Meat plant testing suspension scandal uncovered by Martin Browne, TD. Wonderful work by the Tipperary representative.

#MostEffectiveOppositionInHistory

this is the internet, and mick is among friends - go shit in your hat, you mong.

Despite the fact that we are only hitting 60k tests a week and the HSE promised 100k capacity a week back in May.
They’ve done fuck all with the time they had in other words.
I think they are wasting a lot of time testing people who clearly don’t have it tbh. They are sending everyone for a test who goes into the doctors at this stage. They need to focus on areas where they can make a difference.

Well if you mass test meat plants, then you are mass testing asymptomatics and likely won’t be testing people with symptoms.

Last week had the highest number of tests carried out to date. 66676

Depending on the testing figures for this weekend coming that figure could be exceeded yet.

Was the Testing in these facilities not being outsourced and nothing to do with the HSE anyway?

Oh look here comes captain asshole. Do one you wanker🖕

There was a new pop up test center opened in Limerick yesterday, so it would be no surprise to see a big jump in Limerick figures tonight if they are getting more people through the testing system locally.

Beats a phone repair shop I guess

Does the HSE not still have responsibility for the things it outsources? I’d say it does.

HSE are behind curve. We should not be surprised.

Meat plant random testing was only showing positive rate of 0.2 per cent though.

I think he means some testing was being done privately - ie outside the HSE responsibility. That being said, Covid is a notifiable disease so if a positive was detected via private testing the HSE would have to be told with the resulting tracing etc

What’s the difference between positive tests and cases?

They should be reporting the 7 and 14 day averages and not daily numbers anyway.

Would it be to do with people who are an active case and still testing positive? So they are a positive swab but not a new case?

Yes I’d imagine you’d want to test a positive case a few times so you could determine when they no longer have the virus
