Coronavirus thread - 19/10/2020 - The Day Ireland Died

Karl is a handsome man.

Buy the extra capacity & staff it is all they need to do. It will be far cheaper than this current bollocking about within the economy.

Stop itā€¦

In relation to the mid term break story will it be a two week break or will schools be expected to offer online teaching for the second week given they would be back on site then anyway? Canā€™t see two weeks off for teachers doing much to help the national moodā€¦

Quite the alarming figure but are many if any being hospitalised?

Now the alarming figure would be how many vulnerable people they are interacting with on a daily basis.

How many even know they have it?

If they tested nearly 20,000 people yesterday which was the highest since they started and even 1% are false positives then that would be another 200 new cases. We are making massive decisions based on an imperfect test. ICU numbers have not increased massively nor have hospital admissions. On average 1 person a day died in September that tested positive for Covid. Given noises this morning we looking at a fairly grim November.

Cheers, kid.

Any data on whether those hospitalised had underlying issues?

The Poles have a great vaccine called ā€œNot Giving A Fuckā€.

Nope.

Same over here. Cases going through the roof in the last fortnight.

Rob is a day late.

I can live with the testing system as most other Countries worldwide have been using similar test. Is there another option really that can be freely procured?

What I would be interested to know now is of those new ICU admissions how many are from Nursing Home settings etc.
If the Country is being slowed to a crawl due to continuous fuck ups within the Nursing home sector then major questions need to be asked about how certain facilities are allowed to open in the first place.

Do they read here?

In the UK, Deloitte have 1,000 consultants working on it, charging out around Ā£2k per day per consultant.

Is there info anywhere to see how much the HSE wage bill has increased since March?

How many actual bodies extra have they hired etc or for example could it be seen where the extra money is being spent?

In a pandemic I canā€™t believe they are not ploughing money into tracing this virus properly or is in reality a waste of money?

Is Alan Kelly correct? Buy two private hospitals and be done with it? Or will it just be impossible to staff them without causing a shit storm of wage disputes yet again?
