Death rates have plummeted in the UK so vaccines are doing their job.
It works
Only a handful of people with two jabs are being hospitalised with it.
Well done to the publicans of Ireland, cleaning up Dr Tonys mess.
Law and Order
Ewan has had a magnificent pandemic
I canât understand why they are coming out woth this nonsense. The vaccine works, way better than most that were developed in such a short period of time. They are almost at the point of giving anti vaxxers fuel to the fire saying they donât work. Very dangerous. We need everyone to continue to encourage people to get the vaccine when available
Not really. Thatâs the post of a lunatic. Self gain?
We need lunatics to highlight the madness of whatâs going on. Thatâs the fucked up part
Not really. He can be dismissed as a crank and contrarian - validly - and it undermines any valid criticism of how we manage things.
Maybe to scare/encourage people who havenât had the vaccine to get it.
Cases are rising because a more virulent strain is spreading among unvaccinated and partially vaccinated population. Still only 45% fully vaccinated in UK, so still about 37 million unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. The delta variant appears to be making people sicker more quickly than other variants and one shot of Pfizer only gives 33% protection (2 shots 88% so thatâs good, but gap between first and second shot could be an explanation for how Delta has spreading so fast in UK). Two shots of Astra Zeneca provide much lower protection, 60%.
Are you worried about the delta variant?
How?
By far the best policy is tell the truth as regards the data available. I think thatâs overwhelmingly whatâs happening as regards vaccines, at least from reputable sources.
Probably less so as regards the sticky nature of the virus itself - and that âitâll be grandâ nature of much of the messaging is a problem - one exemplified in the dismissive nature of many of the posts on this forum.
The Covid virus is doing what viruses do, mutating to adapt better to itâs host. So as we develop some immunity to it (natural or a vaccine) it will evolve to dodge that immunity. The biggest problem we have is most of the worldâs population had no immunity to a SARS type virus, and these viruses are getting more common. I think someone who has had Covid or is fully vaccinated has little to worry about currently, but itâs only a matter of time before a variant emerges that existing vaccines or existing immunity wonât work against, so we could well be looking at annual shots for years or decades or forever.
Its not the truth its pure scaremongering. The truth would be x amount of people who have received the vaccine have been seriously ill, hospitalised, in icu or dead due to this variant and compare to the people who are unvaccinated. Break that data out between age groups etc. If someone over 70 refused the vaccine and died due to the Indian variant its their own fault. They knew the risks and chose not to avail of the vaccine. 100% their choice and they are responsible for their own actions. Blanket statements like it doesnât work donât help anyone and are totally ill-informed
Had a bit of a deep dive into the data there. Once
fully vaccinated youâre at more risk from the vaccine than the virus. So alâs good.
You also have people for whom the vaccine wonât work. Even at 95% efficacy, that means 5% of those vaccinated are still vulnerable, but if the AZ vaccine is only 60% effective against the delta variant, then 40% are vulnerable. Itâs beginning to look like Pfizer and Moderna offer the best protection against all variants so far.
Having said that, overall death rates in the UK are lower now (last 10 weeks I believe) than the average of the last five years, so at what point do you say this is as good as itâs going to get? Especially with so much of the population saying we are done and getting on with their lives.
UK deaths for covid are if not nearly single figures for June to date. No overloading of hospitals either. The same issues she not seen in the US or Isreal. These guys here are still scaremongering to what end?
Iâm disappointed in John Bull to be honest.
I thought heâd have 90k in Wembley yesterday.
Heâs let me down.
Zero Covid.
