Coronavirus Thread (Markey hates Immigrants )

Iā€™m on the fence about it. Vaccination is only way out of it and unfortunately we have no choice but to push vaccinations and if people wonā€™t get one then they may have to sit out things.

However if you believe in thin ends of wedges then itā€™s worrying as in theory it creates a precedent that could be used for other measures that we may find less palatable and once a principle is accepted itā€™s hard to unaccept it.

Itā€™s clear enough we are going to be in a cycle of booster jabs starting in Autumn too.

So I need to take a vaccine to stop a vaccinated person getting Covid?

You fail to the see the silliness of your position here?

It would be good if you did take one as it would greatly reduce the possibility of you getting it and passing it on. Vaccines are not 100% effective and thereā€™s lots of people not vaccinated yet that may not die but may get quite ill. The more people vaccinated the less the thing has scope to affect the population as a whole, and the sooner we have normality again.

Yeah, there are wide variations in vaccination rate. Most of the cities are 70%+ but the muldoons are bringing the overall rates down. Also said they expect the next wave to peak at 10-15000 cases a day. The record in March was 35000 cases a day.

Donā€™t worry, mate, if it only applies to healthy people, you and a few other malcontents here will still be able to run wild and free.

Vaccines are also not 100% safe.

Blood clotting
Enlarged hearts
Anaphylactic shock
Facial paralysis

So am I not entitled to look after my own safety and not inject myself with an experimental drug to prevent me from getting something of minimal threat to my demograph and which may not actually work?

Lies, damned lies and statistics.

On Nolan this morning it has been claimed that 60% of those hospitalised with Covid are unvaccinated. Hereā€™s my tuppenceworth if thatā€™s true. Other than those who have some medical condition which makes it advisable not to take the vaccine, the rest should be sent home and told to deal with it. If you canā€™t be arsed taking the vaccine and then get ill, donā€™t come whinging here.

Thatā€™s some difference. A lot of rural places didnā€™t see the impact of it so much and so people arenā€™t motivated to get it. A friend in Madrid said mask compliance there is near total, even outside, people will shout at you if you have it under your nose etc. Makes sense given Madridā€™s experience of it compared to other places.

You could make the argument that if somebody hasnā€™t left their room for six years, like the asexual one, they arenā€™t at risk of catching and passing on the virus, and thus shouldnā€™t be subject to any rules, as they already very effectively self-restrict.

Youā€™re talking to the type of creep that will toe the line to any injection the government directs him to take for fear of not being an obedient little citizen so I wouldnā€™t put too much or any stock in what he says to you

Vaccines are far less risky than getting covid for you. This is borne out by statistics.

You are indeed entitled to make a choice as to whether you will take one.

For most people itā€™s a simple choice.

If your choice leads to you being more inconvenienced than people who choose to take the vaccine in order to protect themselves and others, I donā€™t really mind that.

It is entirely your choice.

It surely isnā€™t an issue as the anti-vaxxers donā€™t believe in medicine or hospitals.

Thereā€™s a lot of projection and deep self loathing in that post, mate. My reply hurt you.

Iā€™m getting vaccinated. I have wan jab got. Got it as soon as I was allowed. But I canā€™t dine indoors on Monday. That is wrong.

I agree.

You didnā€™t answer my question.

My choice leads to no inconvenience for others.

Not only are the vaccines experimental, you are now saying they are effectively useless. If you are worried about their effectiveness then you should take the same precautions and exclude yourself from the activities you want vaccinated people to. Doing otherwise exposes you as a hypocrite.

Why?

I wonā€™t be mean pal

Donā€™t be, pal. As Damien Dempsey sang, try and love yourself.

until they get ill.
