Sad news at the start of the new season. I didnât know either of them personally but we had a good bit of banter with the younger Catunda followers in Clonmel the last few years.
Being a Catunda, Smokey or Kingsmill prefix fan at Clonmel is like being at Ferrari fan at Imola. Incredible scenes.
Two great patriarchs of coursing dynasties gone to the judge in the skyâŚ
Rest in Peace.
MAD, will ya throw up the draw for Glin there if you have it?
I was talking to a Glin auld stock last night, he said he wasnât looking forward to it half as much since he heard that George Bunratty wouldnât be making an appearance.
who was that now?

Due to the fact Iâm on nights this weekend and Iâve to manage the u-8âs at 12 saturday , I am out.
Are the two Killacollas in the local oaks JP Fitzâs?
A great card for the cup.
What time is the first buckle? 11:30?
Even if the hurling is on I might go back for the first couple of hours and bate on from there.
I believe himself and the father have 1 each.
Thatâs a great looking card for the Desmond Cup. Surprised to see King Saunders turned out again so quickly after the dramatic way he supposedly surrendered in his semi-final buckle at Liscannor last weekendâŚ
What exactly happened in that semi, Dunph. Did he just go out like a light?
Iâm only going on what i was told from someone who was there, SS**. Supposedly during his semi-final buckle, King Saunders let up well when suddenly the hare went into a dip with overgrowth or something. Well the two dogs lost sight of the hare and actually ran on past him down towards the escape, when the hare emerged he was running down to the escape behind the two dogs!
I think they offered a coin flip then to decide who would go through to the final but supposedly Curtin didnât agree to this as i suppose he fancied King Sauders to win if they ran again, as the other dog was older/out on his feet or whatver. King Saunders went down 6 lenghts ahead when suddenly he stopped in the middle of the field, sat down and looked over at the stand. The other dog more or less walked passed him and was declared the winner of the semi-final. He wasnât able to take part in the final. Incredible stuffâŚ
Thanks Dunph. I heard King Saunders was out all Saturday night yoked off his head. Limped back to the kennel at 5am. Not surprised he stopped going up the field.
Heâs a dodgpot alright, Pat Buckley was right to cash in on him at the time.
Iâm just after realising lads iâm after wronging King Saunders. This was in fact a different Curtin runner, in the form of Windfarm Eiscir.
Some nicely bred pups still in the DTS in Glin tomorrow,

I was onto the Kennel Hand a while ago, to try and get him to go for pints and he said it was very quiet back there.
To Glin!
Anyone have the survivors from New Ross? There were some tremendously bred dogs down there, Mountain Guest, Denmania, Callura Spice, Rith Gan Gaisce, Carrick Sam etc. I am keeping an eye on one of the Marwood bitches down there.
We were back in Glin this morning.
Mafi looks streets ahead of everything in the cup, but took a nasty spill under escape on his last run up so might be feeling the effects tomorrow.
The two best looking dogs in the Derby will be meeting tomorrow in the semi, Needham Skill (Razor Ashmore/Tango Time) and Derby Pines (Castle Pines/Caoimhes Suzie).
