Some good action this weekend despite the loss of Cashel.
Focusing on the Regional, the cups are a mixed bag. The All Age dog cup is average at best, and probably the weakest so far this season, with lots of the top dogs having been out last weekend, or heading elsewhere. Captain Dru is the obvious choice after his good showing in Clonmel last year, but March Is On is no slouch, going down to Mucky Eamon in Glin last weekend, but will come on for the run. The bottom half has no stand out, and while I would fancy Gortglas Stunner to win his first course, the winner of the half looks to be Wallace Dream, a dog who can be classed as unlucky, after matching Adios Alsono stride for stride to the final in Casteltowngeoghan last year, and over the course of the season took care of plenty of flags without collecting his Clonmel ticket.
The All Age bitch, looks good. Helenās Diva won her Trial stake here last year, absolutely scooted it up actually, and then went to the last 8 of the Oaks bowing to the winner, Lissloose Accord. Then in the same top half of the draw we have New Ross TS winner form last year Latest Bet meeting the holder of this cup, Ashwood Dee. With the winner of that buckle likely to meet Oaks SemiFinalist Lucan Glory in round 2. In the bottom half it does not look as competitive, but we do have an 08 Trialstake winner in Pretty Touch and and 09 cup winner in By Mistake, but I see the winner coming from the top.
The trial stakes, look super also. Ok, its too early to be looking for form, but lets just look at breeding. The derby gives us pups out of Carrick Candy, Ballyorgan, Callura Hunter and Vacume Lady. But it is the Oaks that really whets the appetite, Hollyhill Blonde, Cillowen Call, Carrick Candy, Rith Gan Gaisce and Fingal Gosling.
Also, a sidenote on the Oaks, Legendary Babs, is a daughter of Pretty Touch, mentioned about as runner in the All Age bitch.
