Coursing 2010/11 - The Road to Clonmel

Looks like no coursing in Cashel this weekendā€¦ more to follow.

But got the draw in for Regional, and have a bitch in the Oaks and a dog in the Cup, so thats where I am headed. Havent had a runner there before in the meeting. What can I expect lads ? MAD, Runt and Co. will I get the chance to make your aquaitnace this weekend ?

Could you throw up the regional draw if you have it?
Whats the cup looking like?

Iā€™ve never been over there myself so Iā€™m afraid youā€™ll have to wait for MAD to give you the low down on the field.

I would hope to make either the Saturday or Sunday if the entries look good.

Dont have the draw in full but have the cupā€¦ its decent enough, Captain Dru is the one to watch.

Iā€™ll be there both days hopefully HB, Iā€™ll try to drag runterson along one of the days, its only 10 minutes over the road from us.

The field itself is a very tough test, pretty steep hill, not very long though.

The way things are at the moment, Iā€™ll go over Saturday but struggle to make Sunday.
Although I just realised now that Saturday is the day after the opening of the new dog track and a meeting of the TFK Greyhound Appreciation Society Mid Western Division :pint: :pint:

I am seething that I cannot make Friday night. Even my old man is going and he hasnā€™t been to the dogs in years. A gala event.

So far I have received RSVPs from the following:

The Dunph, MAD, Rintintin, WTB (!!!), The Puke, Julio Geordio, Tournafulla Man and R2E.

Only a bomb scare at Dundalk racecourse on Friday night can save me now.

Dunph?

I was just reading about Cashel over on Nuts.
The bastards.

Yeah 60 hares goneā€¦ I was planning on winning the Trial stake as wellā€¦

MAD/ Runt , directions to this field for the regional pleaseā€¦ From Tipp town onwards will doā€¦ Cheers

The short field is not too encouraging though, my bitch needs distance, but its early days for he, she has 3 or 4 weeks prpper training, and at this stage am just happy to get her a look at a hare.

The most straight forward way I would imagine is to take the main limerick/tipp road almost as far as the city, then you take a turn down to get onto the M7/Tunnel (itā€™s well sign posted at the first set of traffic lights you meet.

From there continue you on the M7 until you get to the N69 Listowel/Foynes exit

Follow the N69 signs coming off the motorway and about 4 miles out the n69 you meet the village of Clarina/Ballybrown. There is a set of traffic lights there ( the only set you will meet after coming off the motorway). Go left at the lights and you are pretty much at the field.

Grand job Runtā€¦

Nowā€¦ Are these the traffic lights to turn at ?

If so is it this field on the left after teh hurling field, or will I head further out the road?

Great use of the new service HB they are the correct lights but the second image is the same link as the first.

Ya you have it spot on HB, itā€™s just after the hurling field.

The field is on the right after the hurling pitch, youā€™ll see card sellers at this gate, itā€™s a nice bit in off the road in through this farm entrance.

My link

Oh grand jobā€¦ In this gate here so

Thats the one.

Did those crusty sons of bitches break into the hare compound? Jesus what I wouldnā€™t do to shoot the legs off the bastards with a blast of a shotgun. Utter cunts. Theyā€™ll be caught some day at it and will be beaten to within an inch of their lives.

Some good action this weekend despite the loss of Cashel.

Focusing on the Regional, the cups are a mixed bag. The All Age dog cup is average at best, and probably the weakest so far this season, with lots of the top dogs having been out last weekend, or heading elsewhere. Captain Dru is the obvious choice after his good showing in Clonmel last year, but March Is On is no slouch, going down to Mucky Eamon in Glin last weekend, but will come on for the run. The bottom half has no stand out, and while I would fancy Gortglas Stunner to win his first course, the winner of the half looks to be Wallace Dream, a dog who can be classed as unlucky, after matching Adios Alsono stride for stride to the final in Casteltowngeoghan last year, and over the course of the season took care of plenty of flags without collecting his Clonmel ticket.

The All Age bitch, looks good. Helenā€™s Diva won her Trial stake here last year, absolutely scooted it up actually, and then went to the last 8 of the Oaks bowing to the winner, Lissloose Accord. Then in the same top half of the draw we have New Ross TS winner form last year Latest Bet meeting the holder of this cup, Ashwood Dee. With the winner of that buckle likely to meet Oaks SemiFinalist Lucan Glory in round 2. In the bottom half it does not look as competitive, but we do have an 08 Trialstake winner in Pretty Touch and and 09 cup winner in By Mistake, but I see the winner coming from the top.

The trial stakes, look super also. Ok, its too early to be looking for form, but lets just look at breeding. The derby gives us pups out of Carrick Candy, Ballyorgan, Callura Hunter and Vacume Lady. But it is the Oaks that really whets the appetite, Hollyhill Blonde, Cillowen Call, Carrick Candy, Rith Gan Gaisce and Fingal Gosling.

Also, a sidenote on the Oaks, Legendary Babs, is a daughter of Pretty Touch, mentioned about as runner in the All Age bitch.
