You wouldnāt have been concerned about what he brought to the games v clare in '13 . Over the past 2 or 3 years heās the man to stop, the improvement is pretty incredible really.
I think it is hard to compare really though, if a player got three points from play in the early to mid noughties youād say he had a great game, and generally if an inside forward player got three points from play that would mean they won a 50:50 ball with a corner back shrugged him off and hit it over for those scores. Most scores these days are lads shooting under little enough pressure after some good team play
Did you ever see either of them attempt the top spinner in their teams hour of crisis?
Thatās a very good point in fairness
in 57 Championship games Pat Horgan scored 21 goals and 403 points
in 64 Championship games Eoin Kelly scored 21 goals and 369 points
My point exactly- Horgan is a better player to anyone who hasnāt seen both play or who simply doesnāt understand hurling
if a team score 20 points 15 years ago they would have been fairly confident of winning that game. If you hit 20 points these days you would expect to lose by 5 or 6
Limerick steamers.
Theyāre some cunts
Horgan cost Cork the All Ireland in 18 with his aides vs Limerick in the Semi

Itās no wonder heās so good.
Mark OāLeary was class.
John Carroll was of his time
Both their legacies will be tainted by the fact that they played for their counties in eras where Waterford regularly bested them.
You know youāre in a dark place when you start losing to Waterford
Yes but Horgan carried threes to Munster titles and all Ireland finals. I think itās much closer than lads are letting on.

I have gone Horgan too, his skill level is majestic, he d get a shot off in phone box and score . The score at the end of the 2013 AIF was unreal.
Kelly super player but he had better players around him
I have gone with Hoggy
Stick to bogball you flute.

Yes, John Carroll, Francis Devanney, Seamus Butler, Evan Sweeney, etc. were better players than Seamus Harnedy, Alan Cadogan, Conor Lehane, Daniel Kearney
Ooooffftttt
Not forgetting Willie Ryan, Micheal Webster and John Devane out of position
Diarmuid Fitz even played a few games corner forward iirc
Best five forwards Iāve seen would be DJ, Kelly, English, Canning and Shefflin. Thereās perhaps a bit of my own county bias there.
Iād have a second tier then with the likes of TJ Reid, Seamie, Horgan and you could fire in behind them many others like Joe Deane, Ben OāConnor, Mullane, Paul Flynn, even Richie Hogan (and Power) and maybe Lar or Pat Fox for a bit more county bias for me.
He did. Sure Paul Kelly was moved into the forwards as well. And they had Denis Byrne for a year or two
Ffs I was so close to doing Eoin Kelly v tj Reid Iām gutted now
Have not read though this thread but hands down Eoin Kelly. You are comparing a great hurler to an all time great.
