David Clifford

Its like watching Troy Parrot fall in with the Kinahans.

His ability to play the sport is the greatest of all time. He might not achieve the most but then a lot of that depends on the team heā€™s on and he canā€™t get a transfer

The Joe Satriani, the Steve Vai of Gaelic football.

Heā€™s decent in Whelanā€™s but you wonā€™t see him at Slane or Knebworth.

Does the dog dream about it I wonder?

Does anybody remember the time Joe Brolly ridiculed Colm Cooper on The Sunday Game? I think it was July 2012.

It was a fantastic wind up. Fellas like meself pretended to agree with it because it was great fun.

Iā€™ll let yis in on a little secret - Joe himself didnā€™t really believe any of the stuff he said and neither did any of the people who pretended to agree with him. Colm Cooper had four All-Ireland medals and countless brilliant performances in Croke Park over the course of a decade.

Itā€™s only when you see how David Clifford is being unironically written up as the greatest player of all time based on the square root of fuck all do you realise the long term negative effects on public discourse of these wind ups.

I think Clifford is the best player Iā€™ve ever seen. Heā€™s not in the top 10 for ā€˜greatest player of all timeā€™ though. YETā€¦

Clifford is clearly the greatest footballer of all time. It isnā€™t even a debate.

I can get on board with Clifford not being the best player ever. People were quick to jump the gun and immediately call him the GOAT at age 23/24. But people on here actually ridiculing him as a person in whatever he does because their head has fallen off at his praises is very, very strange behaviour.

It bothers the Dublin fans nobody knows the names of any of their players and nobody would recognise them if they walked passed them on the street.

Meanwhile David Clifford is the most recognisable gaa player off all time.

Recency bias is a terrible thing.

It is very funny though how a gentle comment by Paul Flynn after last yearā€™s All-Ireland final which was half in jest but whole in earnest - and true - met with such a furious reaction from po-faced ā€œGaelsā€.

It did the Clifford lad no favours at all. The biggest monkey on Cliffordā€™s back currently are the people who claim to be his defenders. They keep reacting furiously to a bit of gentle but true ribbing. Itā€™s bizarre. Thereā€™s an awful want in these Clifford cultists. They just canā€™t leave him alone.

Paul Flynn is a cunt

Has Clifford got a stalker? Brian Fenton does!

Flynnerā€™s state of flow is glorious. It really raises the tone of GAA punditry when you have a fella who can speak properly.

Thatā€™d be Joe Canning.
