These players were all hilariously recognisable.

Playersā€™ faces all now blend into one pretty much. Thatā€™s the homogenisation of human beings for ya.

Aido sticks out because heā€™s Aido. Philly sticks out because heā€™s Philly. They stuck out because they always marked each other. Dublin and Mayo players of the 2010s were mainly recognisable through sheer repetition. I still wouldnā€™t pick out Enda Varley though. I have a notion he looks like Enda McGinley of Tyrone but that may be because I mentally substitute his face for Enda McGinley of Tyrone.

Noel Oā€™Leary of Cork stands out as one of the few properly recognisable GAA faces of the 21st century, the sort that had the sort of head on him youā€™d never forget. Somebody who looked like a mad cunt and undoubtedly was a mad cunt, in a sort of endearing way.

Some people have very boring faces. I donā€™t know enough about prospective 2024 Footballer Of The Year Barry McCambridge to know if he even has a boring face.

Barry McCambridge to me has the air of a fake, made up 2024 footballer from a 1990s computer game about football management, you know one where youā€™ve been playing for 30 seasons and the game has to generate these fake future identities because all the real players like Dean Saunders and Eddie McGoldrick have long retired.

Clifford in 2022 was peak levels of fame. Any Fossa match up and down the country there was a big queue of kids on their marks before the final whistle just so they can get near him.

Nobody comes close in terms of overall levels of fame than David Clifford.

I have it on good authority that he was a right arrogant cunt at the 2011 All-Starā€™s anyway. I feel it always takes a bit from the Second Captains podcast when he comes on for a segment. Heā€™s a bland enough pundit.

I thought Colm Cooper was an all-time great until I stumbled upon this forum. If you were to believe Fulvio then he was probably a slightly more mobile version of Rory Woods but not in the same stratosphere as Stephen Oā€™ Neill, Stevie McDonald or ahem Rory Gallagher. Fulvio really bought the Brolly spiel hook, line and sinker.

Genuinely hilarious comment :grinning:

What a lot of people are failing to take into account is that Mick Lyons didnā€™t have an Instagram account and therefore nobody knew who he was.

He is arguably the most famous sports player of a team sport in Ireland at the moment.

He is the most famous gaa player off all time.

Joe canning was probably close but it sort of fizzled out by the time he was 21 or 22.

David Clifford doesnā€™t have an instagram account.

Heā€™s big on Snapchat and Tik Tok.

Flynn said he was cheering for Louth in a game v Dublin this year. Heā€™s an ape. The lack of class around Clifford only highlights it.

It real irks the dubs.

How does that make him an ape?

I was cheering for Louth against Dublin this year and a lot of Dublin supporters were likely doing the same.

Flynn apologised for a comment where he had absolutely no need to apologise, because a load of snowflakes wet the bed. Flynner was really nice about it, he was thinking of the well being of those snowflakes.

Weā€™ve had 15 months of endless fun off the back of that tweet and more to come.

Keep digging!

Mugsy definitely isnā€™t. I donā€™t think my mother would know him for instance and sheā€™d probably be categorised as a GAA woman. Not even close to top 15 most recognisable of all-time. Jack Oā€™ Shea and Paidi on the other handā€¦ā€¦
