+1 pal. You are just eating the nice crispy outer roll just like you are supposed to and not eating all the doughy, uncooked bread that only Irish people like @TreatyStones adore for some reason.

Buying a smoothie maker on Friday.

Anyone any recommendations. The price range is ridiculous. €20 - €500! I was thinking something around the €60 mark given I need it to blend ice cubes and intend using it daily.

Make sure you have enough space in the press for it so when you get sick of it after a few weeks there’ll be a place to leave it.

Don’t under estimate the cost of fruit either

Buy some heavy duty scourers and pokey cleaning shit cos it’s a bitch to get that caked on three day old fruit/veg rotted shit off it.

On the plus side, you’ll discover a new world of cocktail making.

Agree with @Bisto. Smoothie makers are a scam. Handheld blender is way faster and more practical and easier to use. Buy frozen berries and you’re good to go.

A handheld blender sounds like something that might take my fingers off. And I need them for love-making.

I’ll google them though and have a look.

Isn’t there some problem with frozen berries at the minute? Carrying some bacteria or something?

True but he seemed to be complimentary of their appearance, hence my confusion.

Heard somethin about that. Paid no notice. Of something is identified as a problem it’s whipped off the shelves.

They looked good, if a little skinny. They didn’t have the vacant eyes, sores and other general heroin addict skin complaints, so yeah, it was complimentary.

Agreed, far easier to clean.

Yes, they’ll give you hepatitis A

I’ll kick the heart out of you*!!!

*I wont actually kick the heart out of you, I just haven’t heard the expression in years and it popped into my head.

Don’t do it. There is mounting evidence that smoothies are bad for you. The mix of different sugars from different fruits is creating bad sugars.

The smoothies in bottles are far far worse. Coca Cola andPepsi have bought up a lot if the companies who produce these. They now think the smoothies Coca Cola own have 5 tea spoons if sugars more in them than a can of coke.

If juicing use vegetables and only one fruit.

I gave up sugary drinks a long way back, but recently had a hand juiced orange juice. It was so bitter I was surprised, and reminded me of how much sugar they put in bottled “juices”.

I can only go on the evidence I see with my eyes, Kev. And my mates look great in comparison to the rest of my ageing pals who are all gaining paunches, even the ones who’d play a bit of sport.
I’d often make fresh orange juice and I agree with you on that. I also wouldn’t dream of buying an innocent smoothie.

I think the thing with the green smoothies is that you’re getting a heap of veg and the flaxseeds aids your digestion system etc. They sound good to me anyway.
