Diet & Nutrition

I’m only putting it out there…I haven’t read the book myself so i’ll hold off with my thoughts on it for now.

Sounds extreme @Esteban de la Sexface.

@Mark Renton, my uncle has bought into that book 100%. Follows all of that and swears by fresh fruit and veg juices. Says he feels massively better and arthritis has disappeared. He’s full of nonsense though so again may be overstating the benefits.

Basics of good nutrition- Find a healthy animal, kill it and eat it.

Swears by fresh fruit and veg? Revolutionary stuff alright.

Anecdotal evidence is no evidence at all. It points to a potentially interesting avenue for research but no conclusions can be drawn from it. This is particularly true when people are talking about themselves as there are so many layers of bias involved the conclusions they come to are in no way reliable, let alone generalisable to other people.

Yes, the two papers released last month on the disintegration of the West Antartic ice sheet show that we are, in fact, completely fucked.

Weetabix. Good or bad. Talk to me lads. @Julio Geordio ? @caoimhaoin ? I’m too lazy to make breakfast at home so normally just have porridge in work. I’m getting sick of that now and was going to just buy a packet of Weetabix tomorrow but this whole sugar thing has me freaked out now.

Please no smoothie or fresh essence of grass options please-again, I’m lazy.

I’ve been told it’s the best of a bad lot when it comes to processed cereals

Terrible stuff mate… insulin spikes in the morning when you need a stable blood sugar level.

Eggs are the way forward…

My only two concessions to my Paleo diet are Weetabix and a bit of greek yoghurt in the evenings.

Hasn’t done me any harm. You’d be fed up cooking eggs or meat every morning.

This what my 30 seconds of research suggested also.

I haven’t eaten any carbs for the last 10 days and you were my inspiration, bro. Chicken salads for lunch and fish or steak with veg for dinner. Plan to stick to that for the next 2 or 3 months bar an odd cheat day (behave!) thrown in and see what happens. Gym 5 days a week for last few weeks too.

Delighted to hear that. I was in my nana’s today and my uncle called in with two bags of chips and two quarter pounders. I was offered whatever I wanted.
Not a chance. Had an apple instead and made it home to have chicken and veg.

Paleo ftw. (Nothing wrong with the odd cheat once a week or so. Keeps you right on track)

can you eat spuds on that paedo diet thrawneen?

Sweet potato is allowed, Tass, mate. Ask your local greengrocer.

Horsey, I hear great things about these quest protein bars.

Welcome to the last two weeks.

I have been loosely follwing this diet for 2 weeks and have lost 3 kilo’s. down to 86 from 89, just ate a load of salad there and 4 pork chops
