Finished in the palace. A great town for pints. It was a proper tutorial for Mrs ccha.

Cleary’s is worth a visit. Great history to the place and completely lacking in the upitsownholeness that some Dublin cathedrals can suffer from. Even though it’s in a salty enough part of town it’s extremely well run.

Friendly bar men unlike Mulligans

Massive, massive problem in some Dublin pubs.

You should have said hello

Need to factor in the likelihood of bumping into Roy Curtis when evaluating these cathedrals

You were not there at the time

Mulligan’s is 15 seconds from Chaplin’s. Possibly the best pub in Dublin.

I strongly concur with the people recommending Briody’s (where I had a couple of lovely pints a few weeks ago) and Cleary’s (ditto). Bowe’s and the Palace also nearby and highly recommended too.

Was also in The Oval before Nada Surf gig not long ago. Excellent spot as well. An oasis.

Enjoy.

Nearys is best pub

They’re sour enough for sure in Mulligans.

An excellent pub. I particularly like having oysters there.

Nearby, I also like Kehoe’s, Peter’s Pub, The Dawson Lounge and The Long Hall. Doheny & Nesbitt’s, Hartigan’s and Toner’s not far away too.

McDaid’s is gone a bit grotty in the wrong way.

True. But I budget for their gruffness.

Peadear kearneys consistently has excellent musicans

So many people sitting outside pubs it’s so busy this evening and it’s still mild.

It’s a long winter.

The original Peadar supplied the lyrics to Amhrán na bFianne.

Uncle of Brendan behan

It was hopping last evening. Full of dubs who had been shopping and were having a few before going home.

I dropped in there last night with Mrs Barnes. A good Na Fianna man Paul Stone was singing ballads. I haven’t seen him since he used to play The Hideout on the evening of All Ireland Finals. He’s very good though Joe Duffy wouldn’t approve.
