Dublin Pubs - Hall of Fame

Are there any good Cathedrals of Guinness near the Aviva, or at least within say 15-20mins walk. I should have 2hrs + to kill pre-match on Tuesday night

Yacht tavern Ringsend if coming from that direction.

I was in there just over a week ago for one. Busy. Lovely pint. Service was a bit chaotic but sound at the same time.

Second vote for O’Briens

A decent walk - outside the 15-20 min zone especially after a gallon although a Dublin bike down the canal could sort that

Smiths on Haddington road has cracking pint and atmoss

This is @Smark with the inquiry, while the gallon is within his capability I think the bitéén of exercise is stretching it a bit. Couldn’t one of you chaps not tip over for him in the oul’ 520e and spin the chap up to the field…

Myself and Mrs Barnes went on a mini pub crawl after croke park yesterday. We got the bus into town and went to The Palace to watch the second half of the mayo match. Not for the first time mayo nearly gave her a heart attack but the pints in The Palace were tremendous.

For old time sake we had one in The Quays and listened to a guitar man. It’s fairly souless now but i have great memories of tremendous ballad sessions there in the noughties. We were probably more easily pleased back then and the e probably helped too.

After that we wandered up to The Dame Tavern which was full of slightly rowdy middle aged women in purple t shirts after finishing the mini marathon along with Dublin supporters licking their wounds. The lad playing guitar was very good and had the place rocking while Roger Moore battered Arabs in Octopussy on the unwatched tv in the corner. The Damer is a great pub. We then headed down to Reyna for a tremendous posh kebab before getting the bus home in time for The Sunday Game. Fresh as a daisy for u10 girls football blitz today. ‘Out early home early’ is the job for drinking pints in middle age.
