Dublin

It’s a safe place for them unlike Cork, Tralee and Portlaoise

The best city in the world to go drinking.

Today could be the best day of the year to go drinking in Dublin - Royal Ascot followed by the Euro’s.

You’ll have a serious class of person out and about.

That and New York. I meet a lovely girl from Long Island last night

Class As and Aperol Spritz’s

And you’re thinking of hitting back to LK. @peddlerscross has said it, prob the best Thursday of the year to be supping in Dublin.

I hope @BruidheanChaorthainn is having the time of his life visiting various Dublin Cathedrals.

It could be one of the great days on TFK if he gives us a blow by blow guide to his movements.

Had a wonderful day in the Capital today, with the wife and the young fella. Had a drink and a bite in a non cathedral. Wife had an appointment for an hour so I grabbed a coffee and strolled up to the Green. Sat there and people watched with the little man for an hour. We were stationed at the grandstand and it was a wonderful mix of everything Gavin Pepper would hate. There was a very much Latin feel. Latin/Jazz pumping out. Big crowd on the grandstand jiving and dancing. Place packed with Brazilian, Indians and a few scrotes knocking about too. Great smell of weed filled the air. One homeless hard worker was going about with a black sack asking people for their plastic bottles regardless if they were finished or not and emptying them in a flower bed.
Watched two tasty Brazilians in front of me propositioned by two young Syrian chaps.
Glorious.

Dublin City Council turns down plans for first World War memorial garden – The Irish Times

A rich culture of diversity in the area.

There’s a Killester Garden Village Remembrance Committee and they’ve been petitioning DCC for a garden of remembrance for years.

Plenty of descendants still live in the area but you also get folk registering their disagreement with commemorating anything to do with the british army. Some amusing exchanges over the years on social media etc.

DCC finally stuck up a yoke on an existing green space. One of those signs with history of the area & references to the garden village but the committee are looking for more.

We celebrate D Day (cc @ChairmanDan) and an annual ceremony is held on the grass outside the disused Legion Hall in November. You’d see auld lads being wheeled out in their military clothing with the badges emblazoned on them & everyone proudly sporting their poppies.

Finally going on the Dublin Bay Cruise on Sunday. The weather is meant to be good. Doing the City>Dun Laoghaire>Howth route, €32 each which seems reasonable.

Euros per mile.
I think I’m the only person alive who quite likes Holyhead.
It used be absolutely dreadful, now it has a 28 days later kind of charm.

@BruidheanChaorthainn tells a great one about Holyhead.
