Electric Picnic
What are you referring to then? I honestly don’t see your problem with this.

Right - maybe they are pushing it by calling it an arts festival but having a classical musical composer such as Michael Nyman on the bill is a welcome change from my point of view anyway and something they should be commended for as opposed to slating anyone who may want to see him as falling for a scam.
A boutique festival? Cmon farmer, its a fooking music festival, with bells and whistles, and is just proof that people will swallow any sort of shit.

I aint no fan of Oxegen, but at least it doesnt pretend to be something its not.

I never mentioned Nyman by the way.

:frowning:

Do you want my fooking bank account details too?

What exactly is it that people are supposed to be swallowing?

And how can you detach Nyman from the argument - his inclusion surely provides some evidence that this is a music festival with a bit of a difference at least.

No just wondering cos I know a good few lads who actually fleeced the locals both in Stradbally and the local area while down at the festival. They did some laughing about it and I thought it was interesting that some locals were reciprocating.

I’ve already pointed out I wasn’t talking about the music, it was just the whole event, and then marketting it as a boutiwue festival and chraging through the nose.

A boutique festival farmer, are you seriously swallowing that shite? Its in a field in Stradbally ffs.

If you’re not a fan of Oxegen or Electric Picnic which music festivals do you like?

Who said I liked any of them?

What’s a “standard music festival”? One with no classical composers?

In fairness, part of the “people will swallow anything” vibe about this is this bolloxology they have about “wanting to keep it intimate” by only releasing 35,000 tickets. Yeah, right lads.

How can you detach the music element from it though? Surely that is the key element?

Why do you keep asking me who said things?

Who’s doing all that ball hopping??

It usually is farmer, but this is marketed as a boutique festival, and as an arts and cultural event.

Get da fook…

I have nothing against the standard music festival but I would commend Electric Picnic for showing a bit of variation.

240 bucks is very steep but the line up is strong imo. Couldn’t give a shite how they market it.

What I like the most is that people are willing to shell out €240 for this exclusivity, funny as fook imo.

The marketing element is what I find funny, and that people swallow it down. If you dont give a fook about that farmer, then what are you getting upset about?

I don’t think it is fair to say that if people attend the event then they believe it is an arts and cultural event that they are attending and are hence falling for the scam.

Let the music names speak for themselves.

Ah yes farmer, but my rant is against the gobshites who attend it for the culture.

No bother going along for the choons, hence why I think they should get over this shite of a “boutique” festival.

Utter shite imo.

I have never been to one so I don’t know if there are such people out there. I’ll have to take your word for it I suppose.

I think this will be the last year of it anwyay.

Your a gas man MBB… people spend money on what are considered over priced luxuries all the time, so what. I aint buying into the hype or marketing. I am going to catch some good music and get off my tits. If i was to make two trips to Dublin to catch 2 decent concerts this summer it would cost just as much between tickets/ transport etc.

Exactly - you would get two decent gigs for the price of one shite one :frowning:
