I’d say episodes of Friends was on repeat in Twitter rec rooms.

Friends and marvel movies. This is just like that time Thanos tried to take over the universe and we’re like Captain Ironspider trying to stop him

This stuff is bizarre to read

Sure who hasn’t been through redundancy?
Nobody here is outraged at Musk, he’s made a business decision I suppose

But there’s a definite undercurrent I’d laughing at the redundancies because they’re somehow considered woke, really bizarre stuff

Who’s laughing at them here mate ?

No one.

Not one single poster.

Hang on was everyone in irisb twitter office made redundant?

No. They closed offices while they’re sorting out the redundancies

Twitter have roughly 7500 employees worldwide so if a 50% cut is accurate 3750 jobs gone.

Hardly thousands laid off in Ireland, but typical of the horseshit posted by morons on social media.

Twitter have around 500 here

So 250 or thereabouts culled? I wonder what the breakdown is between devs, marketing and safety is, be interesting to see

I don’t think anyone is laughing at the redundancies. I’ve previously said I saw very little value in some of the roles that have been made redundant. Twitter has axed curation teams and moderation teams that happily, but often unfairly, de-platformed users over the past two years. The reason? Twitter is a private organisation that can and will ban whoever it decides to. Well, it looks like Twitter can wind down entire departments and introduce redundancies whenever it wants also.

What I do find mildly amusing, however, is seeing lads that previously crowed on TFK about sending many a cunt home from a job with his tail between his legs, never to be seen again, getting bent out of shape over the Twitter redundancies.

At existing market caps the employee ratios aren’t actually unreasonable.

Other than the fact Twitter is losing over a billion a year while the others are profitable.

Twitter had a positive EBITDA according to this.

Likely still burning through other cash in investments and way overvalued to be sure. More the general point on tech companies.

All this bullshit is getting worse.

On one side we have lads saying people are laughing at those losing jobs, and others asking for those posts

And on the other side we have lads saying that those against these redundancies previously crowed about people losing their jobs elsewhere. And that durong covid they were happy to see others losing their jobs. And celebrating tax receipts but crying over this. I dont see this correlating posts.

Its going both ways. And seeing as i was name checked as someone who apparently would be happy to see “right wing” redundancies, but in the same post that it would be easy to deny it but its the truth, ill just say its a load of bollix.

250 people losing their job in Ireland is a bad news story no matter what way people want to dress it up. Similar if it turns out any stripe employees here are made redundant. People losing their jobs is not good, and trying to frame it into the absolutely stupid lefty head bangers or right wing nutjobs is the most stupid argument going.

I wasnt a fan of lockdown. I thought the hotel industry here took a massive hammering and was glad to see them get government support and public backing once they got going again. The gouging since then by that sector is a disgrace tho. Many other businesses going under was a terrible thing to happen and shouldnt have been that way.

This isnt a left v right debate. This is a billionaire who made a fuck up buying a social media company and sacked half the workforce in his first week. Ive less than fuck all interest talking about it with anyone who thinks its great because Musk is sowing it to the lefty crusty cunts.

The main person bringing left vs right into this is yourself. As you say, the bullshit is getting worse.
