Hes in denial of what it is. Deflecting. Gas turbines are the most efficient fossil fuel option and its thebright thing to do short term
so, he has in place the most efficient fossil fuel option to make sure there arent shortages in the winter?

He is happy to burn gas, just not build a terminal to import it to secure it’s supply, or extract it in Ireland where it would create jobs etc

It is but myself and others were pointing this out for at least 12 months, we needed more gas turbines to support fluctuations in wind. We should use wind as much as possible but the quickest backup to react to the fluctuations is gas. Unfortunately nuclear is off the table
I don’t think he is happy to burn gas, he has no option in this situation, so it makes sense to have a short-term solution rather than import fracked gas
How will he stop fracked gas from being burned when we get most of our supply from the UK where they are restarting fracking?
If he wants to ensure no fracked gas is used, then surely allowing exploration for gas in Ireland where we can entirely control the supply lines is preferential?
We are transitioning to renewables & building an interconnector to France to get nuclear energy
this is a short-term solution to prevent blackouts
I dont think Ireland can legally drill for Gas anymore tbh
