Prince Andrew, the disgraced second son of Queen Elizabeth II, has settled a lawsuit brought by Virginia Giuffre, a woman who had accused him of raping her when she was a teenage victim of Andrew’s friend, the notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to a new court filing in Manhattan on Tuesday.

The amount that Andrew, 61, will pay Ms. Giuffre is confidential, the parties said in a joint statement attached to the filing.

Andrew also “intends to make a substantial donation” to a charity “in support of victims’ rights,” the statement says.

The deal comes just weeks before Andrew was scheduled to sit for a deposition, in which he would have been questioned under oath by Ms. Giuffre’s lawyers. Andrew did not admit to any of Ms. Giuffre’s accusations against him in the statement announcing the settlement.

That’s what he had to sell the Swiss chalet for.

Good deal for the dirty fucker considering he has access to a bottomless pit of money.

I wonder did the thing of Giuffre herself being accused of trafficking spook her?

You’d love to know what sort of intimidation and threats she was subjected to in private. There is a lot about this case which will not be known for a long, long time, if indeed is ever known, and it probably won’t be.

Does that mean no criminal prosecution?

No complainant now you’d imagine

The DA will be the complainant if ever there is a criminal trial and Ms Giuffre will be subpoenaed as a witness and will have to give evidence regardless of her settlement.

Good to have that cleared up

Like anyone she doesn’t have to give evidence, she can take the fifth.

She can indeed and the jury can draw their own inferences from that.

I’d say pressure came from Buckingham palace to sort it out. Lizzie didnt want it . Once he failed to get the case thrown out, it was the only option left open to him

She surely got at least €50 million off him?

Hard to tell. I’d say it was closer to between 6 and 10.

I’d say with the legal team he put together, anybody in her position would be reluctant to go into court against him and leave themselves open to assertions that they are child sex traffickers.

The best way to avoid a conviction is to avoid any possibility of a trial in the first place and she has her own children to think about.

We’ll never know.No doubt he had an endless supply of muck rakers going through her bins, internet, financial records etc

His legal team lost every motion they fought so far in the case.

I’ve read they were a bunch of ‘yes men’ alright alright.

Wasn’t putting her in the frame as a trafficker a new tack? They had a girl that said she was a trafficker but she had prior said that Andrew raped Giuffre.

It is either the weight of compensation money or the witness that has unnerved her maybe.

Does the 5th not only apply when you’ve committed a crime yourself and don’t want to prejudice yourself?
