Biological men should compete with biological men regardless of how they gender identify, biological females should compete with biological females regardless of how they gender identify.

Do you think it’s reasonable for a biological male to play on a female rugby team, and have this enshrined in law? If your daughter turns out to be good enough to play rugby for Ireland, are you OK with her having to compete with biological males who identify as females?

Trans women are women. They shouldn’t be barred from competing in women’s events by law.

Barring trans women from competing in womens’ sports should be about the last thing on a competent government’s mind.

Again, this issue is complicated. Sports administrators, taking advice from people with relevant scientific expertise and empathy on a human level, are who you want making the rules. Which is exactly why a horrible, dog whistling Trumpist politician out to humiliate trans people is the last person you want involved.

Trans might identify as women, as is their right to do so. But they are biologically men, with all the physical advantages that brings.

It is fundamentally and morally wrong to expect biological women to compete against athletes who are biologically male. It’s so outrageous and utterly laughable.

The exceptions making the rules now.

It’s hilarious the way he wields empathy and kindness as arguments for his warped world view when we all know that he’s the most spiteful and bad minded bastard on the forum. How many times has he tried to have the forum closed down or sent posts to peoples’ employers?

That never happened.

If it’s all fair and just surely you’d have the same issue in both gender altering directions. Are there examples out there of that? I’ve heard examples in women’s sports (power lifting, rugby etc… ) where being a biological male for 20+ years is a glaringly obvious unfair advantage. Are there examples the other way? A biological female for 20+ years transitioning to male and suddenly becoming world class in a sport. Not sure what sports would even lend itself to that? Gymnastics?

Serena and Venus Williams seem to have done alright

Very strange debate.

This forum needs more pragmatic and pressing discourse like whether vaccine rollouts should be age based or year of birth based.

I dont believe it’s fair for people born female to compete against trans females in sport, particularly contact or combat sports.

The obvious solution is to just do away with gendered seperation in sports altogether.

This would have the added bonus of eliminating the Ladies Football highlights segment of The Sunday Game.

Mayo might have* finally won an all Ireland if this happened a few years ago and they stuck Cora Staunton into the forwards.

*They wouldn’t have.

Is there much of a problem with trans male athletes in male sports. I’d presume that no restrictions are needed.
