Lads can still watch the Darts on the Lakeside. We can co-exist too with the EPL.
To me, it all seems very contrived and boring.
It’s very similar to what is proposed in the new CL revamp but the big clubs just want to take all the money for themselves.
I’m surprised at the muted reaction from all the clubs not invited so far. Surely they should calling out this power grab for what it is.
We’re just box office, even when we are a a bit shit on the field like we are at the moment. This was all no doubt part of the Chairman Levy masterplan with the stadium. He’s in a position of strength now as well with the naming rights on the new stadium, albeit they should just name it after him.
What value is that to the Spanish and Italian teams signing up?
Spurs and Arsenal make a mockery of it.
If it had any credibility then neither club would have been invited.
they’ll benefit from larger CL and also they’ll be holding their respective associations to ransom too.
A power play
I’d agree with you that having Woolwich, who finished in 8th place last season in it, is a bit of a joke. If they were going with 6 in the EPL, Spurs were always in. We haven’t finished outside of the Top 6 since season 2008/09. No club in the EPL has had a longer current unbroken run in the Top 6 than Spurs.
Spuds being in it makes a mockery.
No club should be invited that has never won the CL.
The likes of City, Spuds and Arsenal have no interest being there.
Spuds haven’t even won a domestic title for 60 odd years.

I’d be a bit of a traditionalist myself ordinarily, but tradition has been slowly killed off in soccer over the last 30 years - the advent of the Premier League model, Man U boycotting and killing off the FA Cup in 2000 and letting 2nd, 3rd and 4th place non-champions into the Champions League. At this stage, there’s very little tradition left.
Like yourself, I’m going to embrace this European Super League. That’s just the way the game is gone now.
FPP can be pointed to as a fault. It was brought in to keep the big club from hovering up money and debt. The problem is its toothless. City should have been banned from the CL and stripped of its titles bit the court of sports arbitration over turned it. Untied should also be fucked out for the debt they carry. Barca and Madrid also due to their financial irregularities. PSG, Inter, City and Chelsea have dirty money. Its all rotten in football
That’s about the size of it , Dan.
Can’t believe this is such a big deal. If you assume that Munich and Paris will ultimately become “founding clubs” then these founding clubs have contested every champions league final between themfor the last 17 years bar 2012 when Dortmund got to the final and lost. The idea of a football pyramid, that Nuneaton Borough can dream of going up the divisions and ultimately contest with the big boys is baloney and has been for years. There is no romance in football any more. It’s all about money and sportswashing now.
Correct.
And UEFA and FIFA have brought the game to this point with their greed.
A vindication for Rafa Benitez. Big clubs.

The biggest issue with Citeh is the shady Qatari owners. You see Citeh fans getting all hot and bothered by the British Lions touring South Africa in 1974 but yet turning a blind eye to the source of their new found wealth and all the blood money and lives of slave labourers that were lost for the bit of silverware they’ve picked up in the last decade.
You have to say when you see that list what a great job Coach Klopp has done.
In fairness, since Spurs last won the league, you’ve only Ipswich, Everton, Leeds, Derby, Notts Forrest, Aston Villa, Blackburn and Leicester that’s won more recently and not been invited.

Footix has to just move with the time. When Gary Neville and everybody else calms down, there’ll still be the domestic league every Saturday.
