I want to hear somebody make a positive argument for no relegation.
Rangers and Celtic would bring far more to the table than Spurs.
In one sense but not in others
It’s not about the current quality of teams though. Celtic in particular have enormous global potential and historical cache. And Liverpool and Manchester are small enough cities by European standards.
I do think it would have been better if they included more clubs but Celtic/rangers is a big game and more interesting for fans than say man united v some Moscow team or Man City v ajax.
They still need to actually sell the games.
Any way it’s a fairly terrible idea as it simply is not fair.
I’d hope it back fires spectacularly and we have a champions league where it is league winners only.
Yeah that’s exactly it. Clubs are going mad too at the expansion of international football - players are expensive assets and UEFA cashing in on them while taking no risk re injury/recovery etc.
It’ll be interesting to see how this is resolved. Clubs are all under serious financial pressure post Covid and if EPL sanction the Big 6 then that may void TV deals and the clubs need that cash to survive.
It’ll be resolved as too much money at stake for it not to be.
Allows investment without fear of bankruptcy
Ya all the clubs sponsorship deals come with a clause of not qualifying for the champions league.
This super league will definitely happen, the owners hold all the aces. When they bought Man City , Chelsea etc they filleted out the guts of the club and installed their own from the inside out, these clubs are now franchise’s and if fans decide to boycott them they can just move their franchise to another city or country just like they do in the NFL (Remember when Wimbledon fc nearly moved to Dublin). The tv companies will still pay the big bucks and we’ll all still watch it on tv and they know it. This was in the offing 15 years ago just like Neville said and there’s no going back now.
Investment without risk. Sounds cosy.
They did it to price out young lads because your 30-45 year old man will have more disposable income. And possibly bring family.
They tried to make it a family entertainment package.
It’s been diluted and distilled and sanitized.
I was warned to sit* down during what was effectively a champions league playoff with spurs at the Etihad when peter crouch scored and city had Martin fulop in goal. 2010 maybe. I’d never gone since

What are the stats on relegated clubs getting back to EPL. Game is already rigged with the big parachute payments. Those payments are there as it’s financially catastrophic to lose out on EPL money
Lads talking about money etc. Smaller clubs whose only chance of a trophy is a League Cup or a FA Cup sacrifice those to stay in EPL.
The big 6 need to rejoin the FA and leave the EPL.
ie. the fat cats benefit
It would actually be hilarious to see this happen. It would be a disaster. There are already clubs in Dublin. It would be far easier for John Henry to just buy one of them and propose it be included in the Super League.
The only chance I see this of being stopped is if the fa’s of each country boot them out of their leagues but legally that could be tricky and could effect all the clubs in a country.
These clubs still the home leagues as their bread and butter.
Why are there parachute payments from EPL?
Clubs have gone to wall over last two decades by over extending themselves to reach EPL and try and stay there. They play weakened teams in Cups. The Top 4 race is a money race ffs. They are not getting to Europe
To win a cup but to make the money.
Sky opened the door, agreed to buy United in 1998 and were stopped and now have the audacity to lecture people on the working man’s game from behind an expensive pay wall selling betting companies airtime.
I’m not convinced by any bona fides here.
You have not advanced a positive case for no relegation. The only case you have advanced is “think of the poor oligarchs”. Where’s the sporting case? Why would no relegation be more attractive as a product?
Everton is saddened and disappointed to see proposals of a breakaway league pushed forward by six clubs.
Six clubs acting entirely in their own interests.
Six clubs tarnishing the reputation of our league and the game.
Six clubs choosing to disrespect every other club with whom they sit around the Premier League table.
Six clubs taking for granted and even betraying the majority of football supporters across our country and beyond.
At this time of national and international crisis - and a defining period for our game - clubs should be working together collaboratively with the ideals of our game and its supporters uppermost.
Instead, these clubs have been secretly conspiring to break away from a football pyramid that has served them so well.
And in that Pyramid Everton salutes EVERY club, be it Leicester City, Accrington Stanley, Gillingham, Lincoln City, Morecambe, Southend United, Notts County and the rest who have, with their very being, enriched the lives of their supporters throughout the game’s history. And vice versa.
The self-proclaimed Super Six appear intent on disenfranchising supporters across the game - including their own - by putting the very structure that underpins the game we love under threat.
The backlash is understandable and deserved – and has to be listened to.
This preposterous arrogance is not wanted anywhere in football outside of the clubs that have drafted this plan.
On behalf of everyone associated with Everton, we respectfully ask that the proposals are immediately withdrawn and that the private meetings and subversive practises that have brought our beautiful game to possibly its lowest ever position in terms of trust end now.
Finally we would ask the owners, chairmen, and Board members of the six clubs to remember the privileged position they hold – not only as custodians of their clubs but also custodians of the game. The responsibility they carry should be taken seriously.
We urge them all to consider what they wish their legacy to be.

Aye, clubs with the history and prestige of Juve, Inter and Milan are lucky to be invited to a competition with the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Man City.
Suffering fuck.
Almost like it’s a cartel.
