The Premier League, alongside The FA, met with clubs today to discuss the immediate implications of the Super League proposal.
The 14 clubs at the meeting unanimously and vigorously rejected the plans for the competition. The Premier League is considering all actions available to prevent it from progressing, as well as holding those shareholders involved to account under its rules.
The League will continue to work with key stakeholders including fan groups, government, Uefa, The FA, EFL, PFA and LMA to protect the best interests of the game and call on those clubs involved in the proposed competition to cease their involvement immediately.
The Premier League would like to thank fans and all stakeholders for the support they have shown this week on this significant issue. The reaction proves just how much our open pyramid and football community means to people.

The Premier League rule that would give the “Other 14” the greatest chance to prevent the ESL breakaway would appear to be Rule L9. Here it is:
“Except with the prior written approval of the board, during the season a club shall not enter or play its senior men’s first team in any competition other than:
L.9.1 - The UEFA Champions League
L.9.2 - The UEFA Europa League
L.9.3 - The FA Cup
L.9.4 - The FA Community Shield
L.9.5 - The Football League Cup or
L.9.6 - Competitions sanctioned by the County Association of which it is a member.”
As you can see, “Lucrative European Super League” is not on that list.
I presume most people commenting here have other wise they wouldnt be getting involved in the conversation

It would be very funny if this was due to start in August 2022 and players voided their contracts en masse because they’d be banned from the World Cup otherwise.

What was the story with Juventus’s stadium 15 or 20 years back?
It was too big so they had to knock it and make it smaller?
It had a running track and was very unpopular with spectators because of the poor sightlines, which created a terrible atmosphere for most games.
