Iām not convinced non-sports fans in Ireland would have any idea who Andy Lee is. They would probably recognize Shane Long. Southampton have fans outside of Britain and Ireland Iām sure.
Andy Lee wouldnāt be recognised by most sports fans in the UK, Shane Long would. Neither are very famous, Shane Long has been an ever present in the most popular league in the most popular sport. Very few people are actually boxing fans. Andy Lee was a world champion for a short period of time, look at this list of the current boxing world champions and see how many you have even heard of. Thatās what Andy Lee is to most people outside Ireland
