Exams

Do it about TFK mate.

My wife is a nurse and she is doing a course in UCC at the moment to upskill for very specific disease management. Its not a masters or anything more a CPD type thing but it lasts for a year.

Course is hugely practical based but to complete it she needs to do 2 x 3000 word essays. Now thats painful enough but the essays need to be submitted in full college form i.e. full referencing of source info etc…bibliography…the works… like what possible benefit is there in getting 50 nurses to do an essays in that format

Top it all off…when she finished the first one she had to PRINT IT OFF AND DROP IT INTO THE NURSING DEPT BY HAND…mother a gawd…is it any wonder people don’t bother

that’s common in all colleges now. I’d say the printing of 100s of essays for a lecturer would be time consuming and rules out students claiming it got lost in the post etc etc.

Eh i wasnt suggesting she posted it. She could have fucking emailed it!

Wow, don’t believe you have mentioned that before.

No but I’ve heard students argue over these things before. Printing off 100s of those would take forever. Usually you’ve to up load a copy to the college network and hand in a hard copy.

I dont even know why youd print them off. I review documents and mark them up every day without printing them off. The world is gone past paper

Be tricky to make essays on a screen. I couldn’t anyway. I struggle to read books on an e reader always prefer to buy the hard copy. I guess we are all different.

D. Some Common Mistakes
The word “data” is plural, not singular.
The subscript for the permeability of vacuum 0, and other common scientific constants, is zero with subscript formatting, not a lowercase letter “o”.
In American English, commas, semicolons, periods, question and exclamation marks are located within quotation marks only when a complete thought or name is cited, such as a title or full quotation. When quotation marks are used, instead of a bold or italic typeface, to highlight a word or phrase, punctuation should appear outside of the quotation marks. A parenthetical phrase or statement at the end of a sentence is punctuated outside of the closing parenthesis (like this). (A parenthetical sentence is punctuated within the parentheses.)
A graph within a graph is an “inset”, not an “insert”. The word alternatively is preferred to the word “alternately” (unless you really mean something that alternates).
Do not use the word “essentially” to mean “approximately” or “effectively”.
In your paper title, if the words “that uses” can accurately replace the word “using”, capitalize the “u”; if not, keep using lower-cased.
Be aware of the different meanings of the homophones “affect” and “effect”, “complement” and “compliment”, “discreet” and “discrete”, “principal” and “principle”.
Do not confuse “imply” and “infer”.
The prefix “non” is not a word; it should be joined to the word it modifies, usually without a hyphen.

@mickee321 what’s the story with your course now?

Our exams are cancelled, it’s all going to be graded on a series of projects, online tests and assignments.
Without the structure of going into a lecture every week I’ve completely lost focus and my motivation has waned massively.

I haven’t even made a start on my paper. I’ve 2 projects to submit, 2 assignments to complete and 2 online exams to sit by this day next month.

ill send you a note tonight @TreatyStones
we are finding out today what is happening with summer exams that should be between may 8-20
i have x2 papers and a circuit to build in a group by april 21
problem i have and i dont know how i do it etc is that my study time at night is now the time im working
she is doing her stuff during that day - my work is flexible but can be done at any hour of the day and to keep the house ticking over i look after the kids in the day whilst in ./ out of mail … then at night id go 9-1 working and that usually the time id use to study,
i have to keep going tho, word on the street is exams will be replaced by a continuous assesment that will go up to June 30…
give me the exam over that

I’ve a lab assignment to have done by the 16th which I havent started and coding project to have done by the end of month and I dont code.

I’ve to design a secure communications protocol, which I actually know how to express badly in words, but again is going to take a long time to get right down on paper.
