This is depressingly true.
Not failing upwards. He’s won a Champions League and in truth Spain were the best team at the 2021 Euros under him. I can’t remember who beat Spain at the World Cup but I’d say they were a good team. I don’t think Enrique is in the very top rank of coaches but he’s a damn good coach, somewhere around Roberto Mancini’s level.

Morocco
He had a pretty unremarkable time at Roma, admittedly won the Champions League with a strong Barcelona team then left amongst rumours of player unrest.
His time with Spain wasn’t great and getting knocked out by Morrocco in the last 16 of the World Cup is testament to that.
To land the PSG job after all that is falling upwards to me.
The PSG job is a shitshow however.

Nah. Spain were not the best team at the 21 euros. Italy were far better. Losing to Morocco for spain is very poor. Definitely not a good spell for spain

For my money they were. Italy got past Spain on a penalty shoot out in a game in which Spain were the better team.
Spain’s current crop of players isn’t a patch on their great team and they particularly lack a good striker. Morocco were not stiffs and went on to beat Portugal who had been in excellent form.
I don’t think any other manager would have done any better with them than he did.
No way. They came second on 5 points to sweden in their group. Drew with sweden and poland and beat slovakia. Extra time against croatia. If winning on penalties is a bad thing well they needed Penalties against the swiss.
They had one game they lit up. A 5 nil hammering of slovakia. They failed to beat a heap middling to good teams.
Your opinion. Sure it’s all opinion. Italy didn’t win their semi-final and final and then failed to qualify for the World Cup. Hardly a demonstration of being the best team in Europe. They still got the trophy though.
Id say most people would expect the best team in the tournament to be able to beat at least one of sweden, poland switzerland or italy in 90 mins. Italy walked through their group and wrre like a band of warriors for the entire thing. You couldnt move for lads telling you that turkey were a dark horse for the tournament. Italy hammered em 3 nil. They hammered the swiss 3 nil too. They even won their dead rubber…

No harm in keeping him honest the odd time.
I don’t doubt that. I loved him as a player. One of those type of players that you could play anywhere. I saw him playing as a striker for Barcelona as well as scoring goals from midfield and then brought to right back to keep and eye on Giggs against Man Utd, where he also performed well.
