These lads know the price of everything and the value of nothing. They probably think the ability to pause their Skybox while they make microwave popcorn is the fullfillment of the self actualisation stage of Maslows hierarchy of human needs.
i know @Watch_The_Break is on record as conceding âcastro wasnât perfectâ, so im hoping he can fill in the blanks for me on why castro didnât allow anyone leave the country during his âreignâ?
are these lads gone back to bed or what? can any of the looney left explain to me the logic behind fidel castro not let any of his people leave his country during his 50 year reign?
After Castro handed power over to his brother, this was relaxed.
Before that one would have to bribe your way out, or be in pursuit of one of Castroâs pet projects and revenue boosters i.e. sending in Cuban soldiers into Africa to intervene in foreign wars.
Of course, even today, they can block professionals deemed âessentialâ to national security (like lawyers, doctors, engineers).
Iâm really not sure what relevance Ireland 2008-2013 has to Cuba in the 1950s, but if you want to argue it, the increase in poverty in this country in that time was caused mainly by the absence of financial regulation - the very thing you advocate as a âlibertarianâ.
