Yer auld head. It was a poke in the eye. It should have been a penalty

No way. Did you play the game or referee? You’d get thrown into the Foyle if you gave a penalty for that.

Poking someone in the eye?

Accidental contact. Enjoy your swim.

You don’t think that for a second

Are you from Tyrone by any chance? I know a lot of Derry people and they are generally not belligerent.

I’m not being belligerent, you acknowledged that he was poked in the eye but in you opinion it was not enough to give a penalty. I’m just curious as to why you would say it’s not a foul. The Tyrone/Derry business is just an attempt at distraction. Is everyone who disagrees with you belligerent?

Did you play the game and/or referee?

Not a distraction, highly relevant.

You’re trying to shift the argument. are you suggesting I have misinterpreted the rules?

I’m suggesting you never played the game or reffed the game. But to settle it, let’s invite those who played the game (defenders preferable) and/or reffed the game to give their opinion. I think we have established our opinions.

Whether you or I played the game is irrelevant. It’s the last shelter from logic and reason. You should just say neymar is a cheat and he deserved it. What’s good enough for the goose, what goes around comes around etc. Then I’d see your point but claiming it wasn’t a foul isn’t plausible.

Final word. I’ve just checked with the Mexican next to me who played and coached at a reasonable level in Mexico and the US and he says never a penalty. Case closed. Mexicans > Irish on Soccer matters. And drinking, I’m being destroyed here.

I’m just off the phone to Pierluigi Collina. He says you’re talking out of your hole and it was a stonewall penalty, he spoke to the referee who acknowledged that he’d made an elementary error, one which would shame any right thinking adult with even a rudimentary appreciation of the rudimentary rudiments of the game.
So up your hole with a big jam roll. ( his words, not mine)

You hardly think he played foreign games do you?

It’s a soft world cup. The qualifiers are made up of dross like Eire and San Marino.

Not really a global game. Will be another european winner no doubt

That’s already confirmed. Last 6 teams left are European. Not a proper global sport or competition.

A superb period of dominance for the European teams, a fourth different European winner in succession on the cards now.

The European Championships is the toughest international tournament to win in football, not as prestigious as the World Cup but definitely much tougher as more teams of fortitude qualify and less cannon fodder like Tunisia, Panama etc.
