Fine Gael - Hugging The Touchline On The Right Wing?

Commonwealth. The name says it all. Surely it’s a no brainer to be in it. The wealth would be common.

Simon would have been a far better leader than Leo.

The FUP

The commonwealth has certainly brought untold riches to the likes of Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Zambia and Swaziland. We’d be fools not to want a piece of the action :joy:

The solidarity between the commonwealth countries is an intangible benefit the value of which just cannot be quantified.

a quick google suggests that some commonwealth countries have the death penalties for homosexuals

I imagine that will signficantly increase support for Ireland joining the “Commonwealth” on this forum.

But all the people of the commonwealth have a right to reside in great Britain to live and work, surely?

you would assume so

@Tim_Riggins?

As long as they recognise Lizzie as their first ad of state they are still subjects

The Commonwealth needs open borders.

Ah classic. Lads bringing up trade and migration and the Commonwealth. How facile.

If Irish people want unity they will have to accept their kind of thing. The anthem, flag…nothing is off limits.

Why should they?

If Irish people want unity, more than 50% of people on both sides of the border will have to vote to become a United Ireland. Its as simple as that

One might consider it a fair trade off for how Britain raped their countries.

I’m not sure how one could argue with a straight face that the citizens of Ireland, a non-Commonwealth country by choice, should have full rights to live and work in non-EU “global” Britain while Commonwealth countries shouldn’t.

Ah but it isn’t. Even “get the English out of Ireland” banner carrying Mary Lou says that.

The barstool Republicans who talk a big game on unity but want Unionists to bend the knee.

If unity is to be achieved and functional, we will need more than a vote. The Orangemen will need a carrot, coercion won’t work. It didn’t for them and won’t for us.

It is. It’s called the Good Friday Agreement.

It literally is. A peaceful united Ireland is another argument altogether
