The act of sitting down and standing up is a fair struggle today. Harry, can you post a pic that captures my suffering please?

Did my first gym session of the year just now. Finished with the following:

20 x Bicep Curls, Dips and Press Ups

15 x each

10 x each

5 x each

20 x each

Wont be able to lift my arms in the morning.

Did a half an hour session from the fitnessblender videos last night, I can barely walk today.

My legs were still pretty stiff yesterday and I stupidly agreed to play a game of 11 aside in a night owls league, mates team were stuck. Christ I hadn’t played full pitch in years and with the stiff legs I was sucking in air after 5 minutes. Thankfully it was roll on and off and only for an hour… However, (TFK scout alert) I scored a peach if I do say so myself, half volley off the outside of the boot and planted bottom corner from outside the box. Good night and good luck. It was almost enough to tempt me back full time… If only I didn’t have an ankle of a 80 year old woman.

Just had a look at that site after you mentioned it -pretty cool! What session did you do?

The top division of that night owls is supposed to be very competitive. What was the standard like in your match?

Not bad. The team we were playing against were all decent footballers but were older and ran out of steam. Played on the new pitches in UL which are fantastic, almost like real grass.

Did a few sets of these last night. A quality exercise.

I’ve done the spidermans on their own, but not with incorporating the push up. Looks good.

I must try that explosive one as well.

We’ve insanity/circuit training tonight. Looking forward to it. The trainer has incorporated a bit of the TRX stuff into it and I must say once it’s done right, they are decent exercises.

explosive one is good for chest, spiderman is a killer in cricuits, works the obliques and core as you can imagine…

Not sure why ye would be doing too much Horizontal upper body pushing exercises for football. One horizontal push in a week is enough.

what are the best moves to increase upper body then kev? to stop a guy running through ie “to meet him up”

im currently doing pull ups/chinups, shoulder press, rows press up in various forms, supermans…conscious of working both the back and the front

Concentrate on you centre of gravity. **

Meet every cunt with your 2 feet on the ground.

Core, Core, Core…

** (I know nothing about this but I am making a half educated guess)

know nothing about what over committing to challenges?

would have good core strenght, thats more for getting through tackels, im talking about standing arms outstretched holding a man for a spilt sec to check his momentum…

I think KP is confusing holding a man up, with breaking a man up

It’s still predominately the core, but you are right, explosive exercises such as push ups, cleans, snatches and even military press should all be incorporated into a work out- but not every session.

One of the best over all exercises for increasing total strength is still the dead lift, Count. Including your grip and arms as such… vary it up.

What’s the craic with some lads using a one side over hand and the other side underhand grip when doing deadlifts?
